It was so terribly cold. Snow was falling, and it was almost dark. I shivered in my thin blouse and short A-line skirt and desperately searched for shelter. It’s weird how I arrived here. I had been walking along Jackson Street. It was a beautiful day and instead of taking the bus, I’d decided to walk the two miles to my apartment.
