“Pulling Daises: The Accident” by Giselle Phillips

The lines of the road blur in and out of focus as the Mercedes speeds down the fog draped road, a metallic tang filling the air. Her hand pounds on the steering wheel, she watches as a river of blood flows from the open wounds on either side of one hand, scorching pain racking up her arm. Screams of agony mixed with frustrated groans echo off the metal walls as the car swerves violently, the slick of blood making it impossible to grip the steering wheel. Orin:  “Hey”   “Hello” her sultry voice floats in the air.  I don’t take my eyes off of Nash as I setup on to the rooftop terrace. She sits, legs folded beneath her on an antique sofa perched a little too close to the edge for my taste.  Her thick curls are coiled in a loose bun at the top of her head, tendrils sweep her shoulder where the strap of her tank top has slide down her arm.  I take a second to catch my breath from the sight before speaking.  “I... uh...We have been looking for you everywher...

I raise the bow, drawing the string back to a taught “V” as I rest two fingers on my cheek bone to stabilize the weapon.  The target stands twenty yards from my position, partially hidden behind a large oak tree.
