August 8, 2043. Hour 8. Descending. She remembered her first descent every time, without fail. As yet another sub smoothly sank into the heavy ocean waters, her thoughts would follow – deeper into her memory, to the first time she manned a vessel on her own. Water rising in the ballast tanks at each side of her, slowly claiming the submersible as its own with every lap, drawing and mixing it into itself.
