He stared at ash trickling from the ass of his cigarette, landing like pepper in a dish of salt. Vincent Roul was a nocturnal man, though he rarely slept during the day. Constant bouts of insomnia led to aches and pains in his limbs, causing tension where his hands connected to his wrists. This often sent fear through him, as he needed his fingers to wrap around a pen—he only ever used ink because lead smudged too much under the curse of being left-handed. He was quick to anger, possessed an expansive dictionary of insults...

Author bio

Faith Augustine is a writer and actress who holds a BA in Theatre Arts & Writing. She is the author of "Lydia," a historical fiction set in Hendersonville, NC. When she is not creating on the page or pretending on the stage, Faith can be found with her one-year-old puppy, Darcy. (Yes, she named her mini, long-haired dachshund ... who at one point was meant to be a boy ... after the "Pride & Prejudice" icon, Mr. Darcy). At home, in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina, she enjoys singing, playing guitar, and illustrating. There are few moments in the day when she isn't trying to further her creativity or daydream about anything and everything. While "Lydia" is her debut novel, it is not the only one she has written. She looks forward to publishing all of her fictional works and spends endless hours on them. She credits everything to Christ in whom all things are possible.
