Trules has been a literary, performing & filmic artist for over half a century, including being a professional modern dancer, poet, clown, documentary filmmaker (“The Poet and the Con”), theater director & producer, solo performer, and an Allen Ginsberg Poetry Award winner. He blogs for the Huffington Post, and the Cultural Daily, and has 2 of his own blogs called “Trules Rules”, and “e-travels with e. trules”. He is an Associate Professor of Theatre Practice Emeritus at the University of Southern California (USC), where he was a faculty member from 1986 - 2017. He has twice been a Fulbright Scholar - to Malaysia in 2002 - and to Romania in 2010, where he was a Senior Specialist in American Studies (Theater). Currently Trules is the host and storyteller-in-chief of a podcast called “e-travels with e. trules”. (https://erictrules.com/welcome) He is married to Surya, originally from Medan, Sumatra, and he is the happy father of Exsel, his 14 year-old adopted son, also from Indonesia.
