Eva and her grandmother began to place down the clay plates around the small, wooden table prepared for two. The sunlight streamed in through the thin scraps of cloth that shielded the window. “Eva dear,” her grandmother said to her as she sat down at the table,”Where were you yesterday? You did not tell me that you were going to anyone’s house” Eva went pale and didn’t look at her grandmother as she said,”Nowhere special, just climbing trees near the river.” “You are not to go there anymore. You might fall in and drown. You cannot...

Bethany was a small village. There lived people that were quite close to Jesus: Mary, her sister Martha, along with their brother Lazurus. Their brother spent all day working the fields, even on extremely hot days. He pushed himself every day for the sake of his sisters because, even with all of them working all day, they still could hardly keep food on the table. One day, as Lazurus was coming back from work, he suddenly felt a wave of chills come over him. He slowed down a bit as his friends hurried along down the path home to their fami...

She looked back. Nothing could be changed now. She couldn’t return. The road ahead was winding and long, straight and narrow. The voice in her head said it would be okay, but she didn’t know how to trust it, or if she even could. Sophia looked up. The sun was bright and shining. She began to get a little anxious, and swallowed hard, trying to get rid of the fear creeping in the back of her throat. Yet, somehow, she stood tall, the fear departing and confidence overtaking her. She took hold of the straps of her heavy bag full of the...

It was a bomb. Not a particularly big one, but one big enough to shatter a window. The war had been going on for a couple of years. People had to move every few days because of bombs destroying their new place of shelter. Even if it wasn’t a house, eventually, they knew, it would be destroyed. Charity’s family had thought they would have been able to survive underground with the millions of others taking refuge. In the year of 2089, the war hit. There were people who had predicted this and gone underground. By the time the bombs came...

The small town of Aville was not used to strangers. Being placed so down south, away from most villages and towns. Most people wouldn’t even be able to cross the minefield of heat before coming to this windy town. It was always windy. Storms were horrid and did so much damage to property that some people had to go underground to the shelters, strategically placed there just for safety. Aville was located in between a very cold place, and a very hot place. The uneven heating resulted in an extremely windy forecast. All. The. Time. C...

“You don’t think she’ll do it, do you?” Marie stood far off, standing before two great doors. Both were open, calling to her. The first one was fiery and bright and holy, the other was cooler, yet empty, dark and calling, begging for Marie’s attention. “I don’t know..her eyes seem to be drifting to the Holy Entrance..” The two doors stood open and clearly presented a decision. The two angels and two demons stood above, not able to interfere at all. “Boy, how I wish I could push her in the Worldly Entrance!” said one of the demons to th...
