Jim walked in through his door and threw himself down on his couch. It had been a long, strange day. As he sat thinking, his phone rang. He pulled it out and saw that it was his sister, Mindy. Finally some normalcy in all of this mess. He picked up, “Hey, Mindy. What’s up?”“Hmm, I see. Yea, I’m doing alright. Well, mostly.”“Oh, it’s nothing.”“No, it’s really nothing.”“Okay, fine sis. It’s nothing that you need to worry about anyway. I just had the craziest day today. It started this morning. I went out for my morning run, you know, and as us...

May 10, 1957My baby girl was born today. Everything went well. There weren’t any complications. Sheryll and I have decided to name her Ann, in honor my mother. It’s sad that little Ann won’t ever know her grandmother, but at least Sheryll’s parents are still alive and healthy. Ann will still have a pair of grandparents to enjoy. Talking to a journal like it has feelings, not being able to sleep, feeling a pit in my heart. No. In my soul. There’s som...

Tom opened his eyes and stared up at the ceiling. Immediately, someone spoke. “Tom?”“Hello? Where are you?”A head peeked over. “Oh, you’re awake. Thank goodness. I thought," the voice cracked a little and coughed before going on. "I thought, sometimes, that you would never wake up.”“I’m sorry. Who are you?”“I’m Sally. You’re joking right? You know me. The doctors said you would probably have amnesia, but I thought just maybe…” Her voice trailed off into nothingness. So I have amnesia, Tom thought. I guess that explains a lot of things. Like h...

Johnny woke up to the sound of rain. “Oh, no,” he thought. “If it’s raining, then we can’t go down to the lake; we're not going to go fishing and swimming in it today.” Johnny had been wanting to swim in the lake on Grandpa’s farm ever since he had gotten dropped off by his parents five days ago. It still hadn’t happened. “We never get to do what I want to,” he muttered. Grandpa had said that it would probably rain today. Grandpa always knew what was going to happen. He had even proposed an indoor activit...
