I sat atop the tower and watched wearily as stars appeared one by one, then in growing numbers until the dark sky above me was illuminated by a broad ribbon of bright pinpoints from horizon to horizon. “Is this seat free?” the question surprised the man sat on the far side of the table hunched over his bowl of stew. He looked up from under beetling brows and grunted a response which was taken as assent. More than old enough to know better which is probably why I'm not a fan of social media and don't do Facebook, Twitter, etc. so don't look for me there :) Too many hobbies and too little time to do them all at the moment but writing is easy in an armchair!
