The beeping of monitors has become the ever-present ICU audio wallpaper. I can’t open my eyes and I’m stuck, paralyzed in this uncomfortable prickling bed. I can hear my uncle’s voice mumbling something to me from time to time, but I can’t make anything out of it. I’m assuming he’s the one taking care of me right now.
