SunShe’s lying in the backyard listening to the wind chimes sing and watching the suncatcher glow. It’s her sixth birthday, and she enjoys spending her mornings outside, the wind playing with her soft, poofy hair. She giggles at the bird who speaks to her in amusing tones. How wonderful it is to converse with them. “Good morning, Dahlia!” Mr. Man shouts over the fence from next door. I carry the heart of the woman who electrified the world around me. Each time it feels heavier, like a weight dangling from my wrists. Author bio

Dominque Feloss is a philanthropic professional, supporting two prominent portfolios at a major foundation. She has been a public servant for the past five years, previously serving as a Library Senior for her county’s public library system, a certified horticulturist and program assistant for the Agricultural and Natural Resource program at her state’s university extension services, a program associate for the Strategic Partnerships Team at a grassroots nonprofit organization, and an environmental consultant for Clarke Street Fund. As a certified garden technician, sustainable agriculturist, and turfgrass maintainer, Dominque was able to earn a BA in Environmental Horticulture with a focus on sustainable agriculture. Dominque has always loved writing and storytelling and is in the process of pivoting her career goals as she earns an MFA in Creative Writing. In her spare time, Dominque plays tabletop games, occasionally volunteers with her local roller derby league, and is a beginning crafter of dioramas.
