He stared at the empty glass on the coaster beside him, realising in that moment that it was a coaster she’d brought him back from a work trip to Sweden a few years ago. Unsure as to how the souvenir had ended up at his Mother’s house it was all the impetus needed to justify reaching for the wine bottle and pouring the last of its contents into that glass.
