Kath awoke at the crack of a noise, her heart pounding as she heard the loud thud. She had only been asleep for short while, but it was enough to put her in a deep sleep. Disoriented and still half-asleep, she stumbled over her own discarded shoes before regaining her balance and hurrying to investigate the source of the disturbance.
