The daughter of the North Dragon. I looked out over the burned shell of a town that the North Dragon had destroyed. I hoped most of the people had evacuated but the reports had told me otherwise. I heard stories of bodies lining the streets, children, women, livestock all murdered by the unrelenting claw of the North Dragon. The trek up the mountain had been long and hard, much more than I had ever trained for. I had been told the dragon resided in a cave at the summit of the mountain; why a town would be made under the shadow of a dragon'...
“Hey, I’m here.” I sighed as I sent the text. I prayed that this was the meeting area she meant. Why did that girl have to be so vague about things? ‘You know the place near your house, the one with the good muffins.’ That's what she had said. I mean this place has muffins… I’ve never tried them before though. I thought, pulling out my phone to check if she had read my message yet. There was still no replay. The Gas Station. I’m not really hungry, I mean I already had what could pass for dinner and I really should be trying to get home as soon as possible but God I do want some kind of candy. The only sound I could ma...

She waved at me today, she actually waved at me. She was walking that dog, the new puppy she had gotten last month. She looked so beautiful in the morning light, she saw me on my porch and waved to me. She flashed that perfect smile and tossed her hair. She was on the phone talking to someone, she seemed to glow with joy. I was so stunned I barely got my hand up in time. She had combed her hair back from her pretty face. The gold curls swayed in a ponytail behind her as she passed. I missed the cut-off shorts she would wear in the summer but...
The Den of the Beast. The castle looked abandoned from the outside but it was clear that this was someone's home as soon as the door closed behind him. The door had been open, which struck him as odd. Of course, he would never have entered if he had thought this place wasn’t the abandoned, mossy old relic it seemed to be from the exterior. Ivy snaked along the entire building, someone the stones were crumbling and there was an entire tower that was reduced to rubble. Why would someone live out here anyway? Perhaps an elderly man's home. One w...
