“I love you” the words ring through my ears. It doesn't sound right, coming from his mouth. Doesn't sound natural. The words sound hollow, emotionless. I'm not sure how to respond. I definitely don’t feel the same way, but I can't hurt him. “I can't,” I stutter. The rejection makes him cackle, a sound that sends shivers down my spine.
