CHAPTER ONEMadeline inhaled the gust of wind that washed across the beach from the ocean. Her eyes shut as she recalled what it felt like living in that huge expanse of water. Swimming around, hiding from ignorant divers, sleeping on coral beds in hidden underwater caves, eating the different kinds of raw fish prepared in a special way by her aunt.
