Alice Braddock sat bent over and stiff at her computer, her eyes strained to see through her corrective lens as she compulsively chews gum. She examined the latest financials for Braddock Retirement Home or BRH, as it was known in the small waterfront community of Blaine, WA. Author bio

After nearly 30 years of owning businesses in the PNW, retired life offered Carolyn Saletto time to write her memoir, “ONE HAZEL GREEN EYE.” Carolyn tells a story that begins with a childhood defined by little or no adult supervision. Themes included are the love shared by siblings, the resilience of children and eventually finding forgiveness. Carolyn invites the reader into a deeply personal space, offering a story that promises to resonate with anyone touched by mental illness or who has navigated the treacherous waters of growing up with a bipolar parent. Carolyn is a graduate of The Narrative Project, participant in “Deep Dive 2024” hosted by Bianca Marais of “The Shit No One Tells You About Writing” podcast, along with numerous other writing courses and classes. Carolyn’s piece “The Smoking Broom” is set to be published as part of an anthology scheduled for release in 2025. When Carolyn isn’t typing away at a story, she loves to spend time with her family and friends, playing with her grandchildren and attempting to conquer the game of golf.
