The harsh, inhuman scream ripping through the air nearly had Monica doubling over as her bloodied fingers fought to pull bullets from her bandolier. Rumbling a curse that didn’t meet her ears as she fumbled, the small divot made in the sand by the round she’d dropped filled her belly with rage and frustration.
