Terry accepted the warm cup, then paid with an altcoin. Coffee wasn’t in his budget but a little taste of home was a priceless commodity. He took a seat at an open nook which happened to have a window view. The outside world was bathed in a faint, white glow, reminding him once again that he was alone, stranded in a lifeless desert that extended beyond the horizon. He felt his blood pressure rise and took a calming breath. This had been his choice and he would live with it.The window wasn’t real. A realization that made the situation even wor...

It was hot, so hot. The sun beams were needles piercing Katie’s red, irritated skin, and their brightness was blinding her even through her eyelids. She wished that she had a hat or some shades to keep the sun out of her eyes. That was the least that God could have done. Damn him!The ringing of a cathedral bell rang out across the meadows and a divine voice suddenly filled the entire world. “One additional bale of hay will be added to the penance, due to sacrilege.” Katie leapt up from the hayfield that she had been lying in. No way! Th...

Hello, welcome to Burger King. I can take your order whenever you’re ready… Hi. I want a combo number five with extra bacon. What kind of drink with that? Doctor Pepper. Sorry, sir, but we're out of Doctor Pepper. Okay, Root Beer is fine. Sorry sir, no Root Beer either. Mmm...ok, then just give me a Sprite. Very sorry, but we're out of that too. Then what do you have? Just ice. “...” Um, sir? Hello? If you have ice, then please give me a large Frappe. Oh, I'm so sorry, our store stops serving that at eleven o'clock. I see. Then just a ...
"If he tells me I can't drink coffee at work again, you know what I'm gonna tell him?""No, what?""I'm gonna tell him to take this job and shove it! That's what!""Mmm... sure you will."Dylan scratched at his long, fiery beard in irritation. "Just give me a five-sixteenths already." Dylan snatched the nut-driver from the shop assistant and stormed out of the garage. It was ridiculous! He put in seventy hours a week at this trash job and now they wouldn't even give him a ten minute coffee break. It was cold, and starting to snow when ...
Disclaimer: This is a work of fan-fiction. I do not own any of the characters in this story, as it was inspired by the movie: The Silence of the Lambs.Warning: Contains some gore.______________________________________________________Dear Clarice, I'm going to kill you. Hannibal scrawled this brief message in crimson ink. A new year had just begun, but Hannibal was penning his final resolution—in the form of a challenge. He signed the letter, H. Lecter, then followed with a post script. Bring your lambs to the place where it all began.&n...

I beat my head irritably against the headrest of my recliner. I need to finish reading this book, but only three hours remain. I take a deep breath. Hopefully that will be enough time to read the final chapter. I log in to my computer and as I wait for the loading circle, I ponder my current dilemma. Where did it all go wrong? I was ahead of schedule every step of the way, but here I sit, three hours remaining and I must watch my hard work spiral down the drain. My goal for twenty-twenty was to read thirty books. Not too difficult....

It was the 18th hole of the Austin Valley Open, and Hugh Grace had a one stroke lead. He could finish this final hole with a par and still win the tournament. It would be his first tour victory, and along with the over-sized trophy he would receive a 1-million dollar purse. It began to lightly rain as Hugh and his caddy, Sam, hustled up the final fairway and into the rough. The wind whipped at their umbrellas as they began to search the tall grass for Hugh's golf ball. As they hunted for the ball, Sam was all smiles. “You wer...

It was Halloween night and the moon was full. Atop a mountain peak, four witches stood around a boiling cauldron. They were the witches of the North, East, South, and West. This gathering had been planned for one-hundred years, and now the poison which had simmered for a century was finally ready. A vessel was needed in order to administer the poison, and at this critical juncture, the Northern Witch dropped an orange root into the gurgling fluid. She turned to the other witches. "The vessel will be coated in the potion in a few short m...

They sped along in V formation, kings of the aerial highway. Any jaywalker plucky enough to cross them was flattened. Dale was riding near the front, when the leader honked loudly. "There's a nice hole-in-the-wall up ahead. We're stopping for drinks." They’d been traveling since sunup so the gang honked back their overwhelming approval. The smooth surface was icy on Dale's underside as he settled into the water. He shivered. Then, after a moment, began to guzzle lake water. He'd been needing a drink for hours. His gullet full, Dale start...
