       They had said to keep away from the windows in case anyone saw him. So, when they left and the front door had made its rattly, banging noise, echoing through the empty rooms, Finn went to find himself a safe spot, well away from any of the windows, but from where he could keep watch on the house.           They’d made sure, before they’d left, that he had everything he might need: something to eat and drink, and there was plenty to keep him enter...

Author bio

Born in Yorkshire, but a long time resident of Cyprus, Anthony Balkwill writes books with a gritty skin over a vulnerable core. After a career in education, teaching students to read with a sensitive eye, he is now a full-time writer. "The Bitterman", a tale of loss and unfulfilled dreams, was his first novel, followed by "The Quiet Voices", a very different work of multiple narrators, settings and time frames. "Benny and the Dead Scientists", a Young Adult adventure was published at Christmas 2023, after which a collection of light-hearted short stories set in a fictional East Yorkshire village.
