Locking the door behind her, The Girl steps out onto the driveway, hands sweaty and cold. She shakily climbs into her mother’s car and jams the key into the ignition. The engine sputters to life, though this is almost surprising after such a long period of disuse. The Girl presses her forehead against the steering wheel and feels the weight of everything she must bear pushing her down, making her feel exhausted and heavy.
