Carrying a load of laundry, I paused beside a window. Master was outside tending business with a man in formal wear. They were speaking of something, though I did not know what of. Master always took care not to let me overhear his dealings, but I had happened to overhear that he would be going somewhere today. As if sensing my gaze, Master’s eyes flicked up.
