Christmas Eve filled Carter with anticipation – and fear.Three years ago he had moved to the small town of Pinecrest. It looked like a perfect Christmas postcard in the winter. A blanket of snow hugged every building and glistened in the sunshine. Giant candy canes were placed along the main street and at the steps of city hall.
