Devon was walking to school, his bag hanging heavily off his shoulders. He tried to rub the syrup stain off of his hand-me-down red shirt before entering Trevino Middle School. His white, high-tops’s shoelaces were left untied, dragging on the ground, getting dirtier with every step. He was hoping for one thing when he got to school; that Nico wouldn’t see him.
