The family needed extra money. Even with Lupita working full-time at the panadería, they were barely getting by. But everytime she tried to mention it to her husband, he took it as an insult. It was an attack on his sense of pride, of being a husband, a father, a man. So she did her best to approach the topic with care. Her tone was sweet and tactful, but it didn’t matter. Author bio

Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, but for the past seven years I've been living between Alaska and Mexico. When I'm not working seasonally in Alaska, I'm enjoying life in Mexico and writing as much as I can. My main focus in developing my writing over the past five years has been on flash-fiction. This year I'm aiming to write longer short stories. Reedsy seems like a great spot to practice and grow in that aspect. Some of my favorite writers at the moment: Toni Morrison, Virgina Woolfe, Flannery O'Conner, John Steinbeck.
