The NYFWA offers scholarships to enrolled undergraduate or graduate journalism students in the tri-state New York area who are seriously interested in pursuing a career in business and financial journalism. Applications should contain a personal essay explaining why you are pursuing a career in business and financial journalism, as well as 3-5 samples of your financial writing.

The Mary Quon Moy Ing Memorial Scholarship will award up to $2,000 to a currently enrolled college student or graduating high school senior who is pursuing journalism as a career. Applicants must submit a resume, brief personal statements, and optional work samples.

The Anna Chennault Scholarship provides $5,000 to a journalism student in financial need. The purpose of this scholarship is to encourage students to pursue journalism as a career, and to induce competitors to research, learn and give an opinion on a topical news item and to take a stand on this particular issue. Applicants must submit work samples and an essay on one of three given topics.

Five Ruth Lilly and Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Poetry Fellowships in the amount of $25,800 each will be awarded to young poets through a national competition sponsored by the Poetry Foundation, publisher of Poetry magazine. Established in 1989 by the Indianapolis philanthropist Ruth Lilly, the fellowships are intended to encourage the further study and writing of poetry.

This award is offered annually to students of Italian ancestry who are majoring in journalism or media communications. Award is $2,000 and is available only to residents of the Chicago metropolitan area. All applicants must submit a typewritten essay of 500 words on a topic related to the Italian-American experience, portrayal in the media, and/or history.

The Maxwell Foundation provides financial resources to student leaders from Washington state — up to $5,000 per year for freshmen starting at a four-year private college during the upcoming academic year. Requirements include a short essay, sufficient test scores, and financial need. The scholarship is renewable each year for a total of up to $20,000 over a four-year period.

The Dale Runnion Scholarship will be presented to a current AGR undergraduate who plans to pursue a career in agrimarketing, journalism, advertising or public relations. The completion or plans to complete a course in livestock judging or evaluation, campus and/or community leadership and active participation in journalistic activities will receive strong consideration.

At Signature Products, we honor the hard work and dedication of teachers who are critical to students’ success. Every year, we offer one $1,000 scholarship to help an aspiring teacher achieve his or her goal. To apply, please submit one 300-word essay about the teacher and/or event that inspired you to seek a degree in teaching, as well as a completed application form.

This year, NAJA will select five students for one-time awards of $10,000 each for the NAJA - Facebook Journalism Project Scholarship for Indigenous students pursuing journalism and media degrees at a higher learning institutions. Applicants must highlight a commitment to Indigenous storytelling as demonstrated by completed coursework, clips/work samples and a letter of recommendation from a professor or internship supervisor.

The Watts Humanitarian Scholarship Fund is a non-profit corporation that offers a $500 a year award, plus laptops, to recognize graduating seniors with potential for service and leadership. Applicants must write an essay about being a humanitarian, as well as their individual challenges and goals, and provide (2) letters of recommendation and transcripts.

Faith Hope and Love Jesus, Inc. is excited to offer an annual $500 college scholarship for students who have been affected by cancer and/or a blood disorder. The application essay can be on any topic or subject, as long as it's 500 words or more — so let the writing begin! The deadline for submission is every May 1st and we will announce our winner every August 1st.

Our organization seeks to honor Benjamin’s Hope for the Future by raising awareness & funding promising treatments with the hope for a cure for pediatric cancer.
