CWA Margery Allingham Short Story Competition

Crime Writers Association

The goal of this contest hosted by the Crime Writers Association is to find the best unpublished short story – one that fits into legendary crime writer Margery’s definition of what makes a great story: “The Mystery remains box-shaped, at once a prison and a refuge. Its four walls are, roughly, a Crime, a Mystery, an Enquiry and a Conclusion with an Element of Satisfaction in it.” The international competition is open to all – both published and unpublished authors from all over the world – and is for short stories of up to 3,500 words.

2017 Arizona Literary Contest

Arizona Authors' Association

Published works can be submitted in the categories of Fiction, Nonfiction and Children’s Literature. Publishing date must be 2016 or 2017. Unpublished works can be submitted in the categories of Poetry, New Drama, Essay/Article/True Story, Short Story and Unpublished Novel. The top four finalists in all categories except New Drama will be published or featured in the Arizona Literary Magazine 2018. The winning New Drama script will be published in its entirety.
