My hand is numbing. I've been gripping the control for more than an hour now. I wanted to sweep away the salty substance that's blocking my view of the system but I can't. I must not.
The red button beep and flash its light. A sign that the ion thruster are now overheating. The ship I'm in will about to blow if I keep on pursuing the little ship before me.
Damn!
I was blinded by the sun somewhere at my right. And the moon was not helping me to stay focus.
I have to stay focus. But how can I if I see my comrades' ships being blustered by those fuckin’ aliens!?
"This is the command center, abort the mission! I repeat, abort the mission! To all combats engaging in battle, abort the mission!" said the monotone voice from the speaker. The Command Center.
Are they freakin' kidding me?! We're near our annihilations and all they've got to say was abort this fuckin' mission!?
"This is Tango 1, negative. Negative. The alien ships have entered the zone. We can't abort it!" said a voice from another speaker. I recognized Jim from The Destroyer ship. He's a classmate from Battle School. "We're all going to die!"
I looked up on the monitor, and I saw the blue planet from behind the alien ship. The blue planet that's called Earth. If the alien ship has reached our atmosphere. We're totally done.
"Don't be like that, Jim. Be positive!" I said on my phone.
"Don't say my name, you fuckin’ retard! You're breaching the system!" Jim panicked.
"Fuck the system, dude. We're about to die here!" I laughed as I heard Jim replied 'Bastard!'.
I looked at the small ship I was pursuing, it disappeared right behind the Satellite of International Space Station. I turned off the ion thruster engine and switch to regular electric engine.
The American Government will not be very happy if I let this billion-dollar starship exploded just because its pilot was playing hide-and-seek with an alien ship.
I looked at the infrared map and read it. According to the map, the alien ship is heading through the deepness of Mare Frigoris, one of Moon's deepest and largest sea.
"The tiny shit is doing something odd. While it's mother shit desperately wanting to land on Earth, the baby is heading off course. Why oh why?" I muttered.
I heard Capt. Shin laughed on the speaker after a booming sound and a screech. "Oh damn! I just blow four ships in one cannon. That's a record!"
I looked at the monitor. From the back camera, the fighting on space are still intense. I searched for Capt. Shin's little Fathom Mobile Fighter. It's hovering around the Mother Ship.
"I see you, Captain," I said on phone. "Salute to that!" and he laughed.
"Where are you, Johnny?" asked Jim from The Destroyer. So much for breaching the system. "I can't see you on the monitor."
"I'm pursuing a tiny bitch here!" I answered as I turned on the ion thruster. I spotted the gleaming silver alien ship near the vacated moon base of Japan International Meteorological Foundation Inc.
"Come back on field, coward. Don't escape," Jim said smugly.
"I ain't a coward, Little Jimmy," I smirked over the phone. "My dick is bigger than yours, you forgot!"
"Bastard!" Jim shouted as Shin howled in familiar sound of mad laughter, we called him Captain Dog.
I stared at the monitor and leave everything, even the conversation, behind.
"What are you doing there?" I asked myself as the tiny ship paused for a while.
The little alien ship's behavior is baffling and troubling. I know. We've been studying them since The Attack of 2020 and I know for a fact that the Faberians are not holding back when they're invading. They used all ships they can used because their needs and supplies are limited by the great number of years they've been travelling from galaxy to galaxy. And now they’ve reach us, they will not hold back.
Now, where are you going?
For the last time I looked at the monitor. The fighting still continues. The Mother Ship looks as it was before. This is bad. The aliens are regaining their strength because THE QUEEN is still alive. She's the toughest bitch to kill.
On this state we have to kill her or her minions will eat all the brains on Earth when they got the chance to land.
I checked the condition of the thruster. The ions tanker is still in not good condition but I have to know where the ship is going so, I continued to follow it. Leaving the fighting behind.
My heart is beating harder than ever as the sound of hallow space swallowed the sound of war from behind. Fear started to creep inside my core. I'm the only human now flying on moon and beyond. And I have no idea how much longer the ions would last. It could just blow up to my face even before the Aliens annihilate the Earth.
Johnny's done.
Creep. I shook off the fear and push the button to put the thruster at its maximum level. I've got to trust myself. I know I'm a good pilot. I've done this before... in practice field though. What's the difference anyway?
After several minutes of pursuing the ship, it disappeared again. Even on censor. I looked at the monitor. I'm million miles away from Earth now. The moon also disappeared and the sun is nowhere to be found. I guessed it's time to panic, but I calmed myself down and think of my mother Annie in Florida, doing a cross stitch of a green field.
I blow some air and flip my head. Calm down Johnny. Find the ship.
I stared up at the monitor. Pitch-black was all I can see. No signs of light and life. Just nothing. I transfer the image of monitor to infrared, so to scan any moving heat.
Nothing.
"Damn! This is frustrating than ever. I could just leave behind the baby ship and fight with my comrades at the battle. But here I am. Gawking at emptiness like a bat inside an empty cave."
Then the infrared monitor suddenly blinked. It detected a heat coming from my behind. By instinct I turned my ship around, there I saw the silhouette of the baby alien ship.
"There you are, bastard!" I shouted as I ready to detonate the bomb that can blow either the alien ship or mine.
But the tiny ship knew my existence, it disappeared right before it reaches me.
"Fucking a-hole got an invisibility cloak!" I shouted. "Cheater!!"
It pisses me off that these aliens got superb technology than human has. Ours resembled children toys.
I searched again for the ship; it reappears behind me for the second time.
"Got the time to play with me, huh? Think it's damn funny!?" I cursed as I push the trigger of cannon striker. The ship evaded it easily. I recognized that this ship is different from any other alien ship on battle behind.
This one... is advance. It's a lot faster. It can disappear and reappear without sound. It got force field as its shield.
Why? Why though?
Then the alien ship turned around and I saw a glimpse of silver light marking on its right limb. It has a mark.
What mark?
I immediately recall the familiar mark I saw on the tiny ship for I knew I saw it before. On a textbook... at battle school. When the General taught us about the Faberians social cycle. The mark...
It's the mark of...
THE QUEEN! Shit!
The Queen Bitch is not fighting along the Mother Ship!! She's here!! Playing hide-and-seek with me while controlling the war from miles away. Cheating Bug!
I tried to contact the Command Center but it was negative. I was too far and the system must be breaching by the constant explosion on battle.
"Damn it!"
The Queen ship hovered around me. She knew I lacked the capacity to fight her so she's just looking at me behind her ten eyes.
I turned my ship around to go back... to escape. But the Queen immediately pulled my ship and clamped her two great limbs on my trustees. I used all the energy to pull back but the clamp locked on my thruster.
Suddenly, the alarm blared. The whole system is shutting down. The Queen ship must know it, she moved forward together with my ship, then there's this booming sound coming from within. My head hurt so much.
I saw the distant light spreading until it covered my ship, and the engine shut down totally. That light must be some kind of energy force field which destroyed the whole atomic structures of propulsion.
"Oh Johnny! Hell, it's time to panic, I guessed!" I shouted as my heart pound like crazy. The Queen Ship is driving me to the deep vastness called space.
I pushed every button I could but the system remained shut. Damn! It's just a consolation the air reservation tank is still working. I could breath. But it won't last.
I sighed deeply as I surrendered. I can't do anything now at my state. Johnny Marshall is now a legend. A pilot gone missing after pursuing a cute ship. Great.
A sudden thought passed by my head as I stared out at the window of my ship. I remembered those times when Shin, Jim and I decided to enter Battle School of U.S. Fleet after attending University of Stanford.
It's the easiest decision I've ever made. When I heard Jim and Shin going into N.A.S.A. I go with them without blinking an eye. We all hope for space exploration, but the Battle School decided to throw us to battle field.
My decision affected my mother though, Annie. She hated it that I had to go to space to work my butt out for nothing but theoretical science. She's a religious woman so she never understands my reasoning. She just stops talking to me and let me, Jim and Shin aboard the ship and fly to Battle School.
And now we're here, fighting off the alien suckers we called Faberians.
Ah no. It’s just them. Me? I'm here, a dot of failure in history. A goner.
The Queen Bitch must be moving too fast, I got a glimpse of red dusky outer layer the planet Mars was famous for. We're passing the fourth planet of the Solar System. Just how fast are we?
"Nice Johnny. You passed Mars without driving this shit," I muttered and I wish I had liquor.
After a few more minutes, I heard a peculiar sound emanating from nowhere. It sounds deep and scary. Then the Queen ship suddenly release me from her great clamp and I remained moving, sliding slowly to the sound.
When my ship turned around, that's when I saw this huge black Materia of space pulling me. About five kilometres in diameter.
"Holy black hole!"
The Queen ship just thrown me like a trash on a garbage can. Only, the can is a black hole! Or at least, it looked like one base on earthly knowledge.
Hurriedly I tried to regain the system of the ship as the black hole slowly eat me up, but the dead system just mocked me. The trustees failed to overdrive the energy force field from the Queen.
"That's it then. I'm done," I said as the great empty space swallowed my ship whole. I felt my seat vibrating, the black hole is a huge mass of energy and it will crush my ship... soon enough.
I fell back on my seat as the light dissolved. Even the Queen ship is out of my sight now.
Will I be able to answer some long-existing scientifically questions? Isn’t black hole supposed to travel you somewhere in between parallel universe? Or did I study a wrong book and it will just kill me once I approaches it?
Black hole. I wonder where it can lead me. I just hope... I do hope... the oxygen will last until I reach my final destination... into nowhere.
