Inspirational Creative Nonfiction

Today, tomorrow, next week, next month, next year. Today I am thinking. Tomorrow I will wake up. Next week I will fall asleep. Next month I will be restless. Next year I will realize. Realize that time has been passing faster. Next month is next week, next year is next month, tomorrow is in two seconds, today was a century ago. It’s all confusing, all random thoughts put into one. What is this “time” that we speak of? Does it really pass? Do we all roll around the sun so that it appears to set and rise, and that is time? I can’t say, for I do not know. If I did, I would share it to my best ability. And if I didn’t know, and I don’t, I would try to figure it out. All these words, in your mind yet lonely in your ears as you figure out who you are, who you love, what you like to do. As you figure out yourself while hugging the one you’ve missed for so long, but now time passes faster and this all comes speedily. Yet, if you notice, you can savor these quick moments, with all this information, you can do anything. The world is limitless, but is your knowledge? Even though we have it, do we understand it? All these ones and zeros. All these microchips and motherboards. Can we really comprehend all of the things we can do, or is this normal? Is all this remarkable technology that we have at our fingertip really boring? Do we really need all these new things when what we have would make someone from 1987 cry tears of confusion and joy? No. Unless we do. Because all of this is not enough for our greedy selves. Because we need more than smartphones and laptops. Because we need more than online shopping and free games on the app store. We need all these things that would be considered insane in the 1900s. This endless evolution of technology, these lines of code that make up our current knowledge. Even if we know something, we don’t need to, because we can just look it up on Google or grab a calculator. Are you even listening, or did you just check your phone? What’s 60 x 10? I bet you just flinched to grab your cell and look it up, huh? Everything we know is from online searches. Because of Covid-19, even some schools are completely on Zoom and assignments are on Google Classroom or Google Forms. What is this life we have? Do we ever notice the time of year or day of the week, since it doesn't matter because time’s passing faster? But even if we did, is what we know really all we know? Or is it all we want to know? Are there things we want that we can’t have? Doesn’t that make you mad? Of course, even in a perfect world, we probably wouldn’t have them, anyways.
