Her eyes bore into me; beady as a raven’s and black as space itself. The thin arctic-blue rings surrounding her uncommonly large pupils glisten like the sun bouncing off the surface of a glacial river. Mesmerizing. I have never met anyone with full-spectrum vision before. Only heard the tales my father would spin me to sleep with. He called them Wavers, and I thought them a myth.
