I generally review YA books with the occasional literary fiction (adult) or middle grade review. The books I choose to read are a combination of my interests/recommendations and ARCs that have come into my possession. All finished copies/ARCs received from publishers are reviewed with the same integrity; the sourcing of my copy does not affect how truthful my review will be.

Hey, thanks for joining! We're so happy you're here! We accept review requests from indie authors (small press, independent press, and self pub) and traditionally published authors. We do not guarantee reviews. IMPORTANT: Do not contact our staff reviewers directly with review requests. They will not respond. Repeated contacts will result in your email being blocked.

⭐️ Accepts indie books? Yes
SFBook has five regular reviewers. If we were to satisfy every author, we'd need to read and write reviews for over 100,000 books each per year. That's 274 books every day. Given that fact we simply can't review everyone's book, we are lucky to get through a very small fraction of those written each year. We are, however, happy to be contacted with requests by independent authors as well as those who are represented by agents and publishers.

My current review style allows me to provide more of my personal reaction to the story and characters & what I liked, what I didn't, and how I related to the stories. Sometimes I will comment on the covers or share some of my favorite quotes. My review will be fair and honest. I will not provide a review for a book I do not finish. I do not accept requests for fantasy or science-fiction. Thank you!

Prior to starting Cracking the Cover I professionally reviewed books for the Deseret News, a daily newspaper in Salt Lake City. My reviews for Cracking the Cover are much the same. I pride myself on professionalism and believe every book deserves the same sort of treatment. I am somewhat selective about accepting review requests. Special consideration will be made for publicists/third parties that I have worked with before; authors I have worked with before; and if the title was one I was planning on requesting.

If you would like to request a review, please send me an email with a brief description of your book and the buy links. Please DO NOT attach any files to your request for review. I will let you know if I'm interested in reviewing your book. I cannot review every book submitted to me because of the overwhelming number of submissions. Please, no horror, true crime, memoirs, or children's books.

Please keep in mind Fantasy Book Critic receives dozens of review requests every week, so it is not always possible to respond immediately. If you do not hear from someone after 21 days, then feel free to send a follow-up query. Should your request interest one of our reviewers, you will be contacted regarding coverage on Fantasy Book Critic. Thank you for your interest in Fantasy Book Critic.

I try to be fair and honest in my reviews. I will always highlight both the positive and negative aspects of a book. Additionally, I post my reviews on Goodreads and I link it to my Twitter account as well as my blog's Facebook page. I use a five star rating system.

We will consider all subgenres of speculative fiction (and related nonfiction), regardless of author or medium, including self-published work, but we are especially interested in seeing more books by and about women, people of color, LGBTQIA, disabled people, people with nonwestern languages and religions, and other under-represented groups.

I prefer to review print copies of books whenever possible. I am also able to review EPUB formatted ebooks by special arrangement. Print copies will be given precedence due to the cost involved in getting them to me.

As much as I love other romance genres, the focus of my blog is Regency. (If you don't know what Regency is, please see this). In other words, please don't submit your sci-fi, memoir, Medieval romance, contemporary romance, etc. If you have a Regency or Regency related book (like a relevant non-fiction) feel free to fire away. I typically respond to requests within 2-4 weeks.

I love reading sci-fi, fantasy, dystopia, urban fantasy and post -apocalyptic books. I have been known to pick up a romance or two from time to time, but NEVER in the contemporary or historical genres. I don't read YA, children books or nonfiction.

I enjoy reading somewhat eclectic range of book, but I especially enjoy reading paranormal, science fiction, fantasy and contemporary romance in both adult and YA books. I'm not a huge fan of horror I also don't read much erotica or anything overly graphic, abusive or with a blatant amount of excessive violence.

Bookangel started as a London bookclub's private site to swap book recs and highlight free books. It opened to other users a few years back after realising that there weren't many sites that focus on UK readers.
