You wanted a ghost story

With a twist?

Here’s the twist-

I’m the ghost

You can laugh

Shake your head

Take a bath

Go back to bed

I’m not lying

Not a bit

I’m here sighing

I can’t even sit

If I don’t concentrate, 

Things go through my skin

I don’t have any weight

My ‘bones’ are papery thin

How am I writing?

Well I just keep fighting

These worlds that I create

I live in them you see

Bouncing from state to state

The characters are my family

So I’m a ghost

Sorry for keeping it from you

Not like I can boast

About being in the undead crew

You still think I’m lying

That this is all fake

You’re not buying

Think it’s a story I make

You can think what you want

You can scoff all you want

You can shake your head in disbelief

Take a sigh in some relief

I’m just a spirit

I’m pretty dead

Call me an ‘it’

I can’t even eat bread

Let me tell you something

It’s nothing like TV

They have nothing

Us you can see

We’re a little transparent

A little tainted white

But there’s nothing about us to fear

We don’t haunt the night

I’m just like you

But I’m really not

I don’t say boo

But I don’t get hot

I don’t need to eat

I don’t need to shower

I don’t feel the heat

And I don’t have any power

I can go where I please

But I don’t age at all

I don’t feel the breeze

And I can’t play with a ball

I don’t get sick

I can’t fall in love

Or get hit with a brick

I don’t feel a shove

And my blood isn’t thick

I have friends

They live in my head

Our fun never ends

When we tie our thread

Pulling and tying

Making sure to think hard

Forget about crying

Do you see a guard?

Are you confused now?

Even more than before?

Can you not see how?

I’ll tell you more

I have lots of thin thread

In all different colors

My favorite is red

I find that it covers

All the blood

Once it falls out

It covers the blood

And I muffle their shout

Who, you wonder

What do I do?

Outside, booms the thunder

I’ll tell you

Listen to me closely

Do you hear?

It’ll seem very ghostly

But there’s nothing to fear…

Nothing to fear, 

Though it seems scary

Nothing to fear

Even if you think it very

I’m just like you

You’re just like me

I do what I do

And I do it with glee

See I do what I feel

And I do what I please

Sometimes it leaves me with a meal

Other times with fleas

Am I making no sense once more?

Are you still confused?

You’ll get it soon for sure

Though sorry if you end up bruised

I told you I don’t eat

But that doesn’t mean I don’t get hungry

Sometimes I just want a treat

Yet no one wants to feed me

I must get food myself

But it’s a different hunger

A hunger in my soul

I feel much younger

I have but one goal

I take my long red thread

And I snip it with my teeth

They all end up dead

Their souls underneath

Ripe for the taking

Lovely and sweet

Still think I’m faking?

Then come watch me eat

I tie the thread tight

And pull the head off

I don’t take a bite

That would make me cough

I press my hands down

I close my eyes

Don’t give me that frown

I still hear your cries

This is just what I must do

Please don’t judge me

Not like I’m doing it to you

You don’t have to agree

But just leave me alone

If you won’t listen

Leave me alone

It’s my own decision

I wish I could cry

I feel so hurt

But I can’t even die

My body’s under the dirt

My soul bears the agony

My heart feels the pain

I’m losing my sanity

Again and again

Why should I spare everyone

And let the people live

It’s all in good fun

You have nothing you could give

For I’m just a spirit

I’m just air

Can you hear it?

The sound of my sweet despair

I feel like I’m dying

But I’m already gone

In my heart, I am crying

My body’s moved on

I know I’m doing wrong

I know it’s mean

My will isn’t strong

My conscience unclean

Sometimes I regret it

Sometimes I’m ashamed

And yet I never quit

Instincts be blamed

If this makes you shiver

Makes your skin crawl

Makes your lip quiver

Can’t hear more at all

Then I suggest you leave

Because it doesn’t end now

I don’t know how you’ll receive

When you hear how

I bury the body

Without cleaning the blood

It gets quite soggy

As if it’s covered in mud

It’s black and red

And other colors too

It spews from their head

It’s quite the view

It stains my hands 

And my clothes too

Ruins my plans

Gives others a clue

Of what I was doing

During the night

Give them a reason to keep booing

At my sorry sight

But don’t think for a minute

That I even care

I have quite the limit

And it’s really rare

To see me snap

To lose my cool

Maybe slap

It’s a personal rule

I let others have their own opinion

Think what you want about me

But I’m not your minion

And my will is free

I’ll keep killing 

You do you

I get my filling

Though I can’t undo

Families hate me

All of them do

So, you see

I kill them too

All alone

Is how I’m left

Future’s set in stone

And it’s not the best

You could say it’s my fault

And maybe it is

Soon I will bolt

Stop doing the biz

For now, just remember

That I’m a ghost
