Your Past is not your future: A fictional story By- Pravini Thivakar
Have you ever felt that it would be best to forget your past forever? Some people say our past is what builds our future but I think differently. Our past is what we learn from, while our future is our opportunity to build from our past. After my journey, I've realized that sometimes it's okay to forget our past.
My Past: As a child, I always thought it's not okay to be different, always blend in, be cool, be hidden in the crowds. I was bullied, that's my hidden truth, that's my past. But now, things have changed if you believe that you are alone, you're not. It is okay to be different, your past doesn't define you, your future does. I chose to forget my past for these years but I've chosen to remember it, one last time.
Deeper into my past: I was an only child and I didn't have any role models apart from my parents, they always supported me and never questioned a word I did, I mean that's their job as my parents, so I never questioned them. As I grew older and went into grade 1, things changed. As I walked into the classroom the teacher decided it was 'getting to know you day'. That day is when you meet the other people in your class and get to know them, meaning you also have to introduce yourself. I took one look at the class and ran into the bathroom. You see, I was very shy when it came to talking to people so, I spent all of first period in the bathroom. When I was ready I returned back to the classroom and as soon as I knew it, it was recess. I walked and walked until I reached the monkey bars. As I was about to jump on I got pushed onto the ground and the next thing I know, I was in the hospital. The doctor said I was fine I just needed a 1-week recovery before I was sent back to school. I was extremely scared to go back, I told my parents, but they said to give it another chance. So I did, the next week I went back to school and it seemed normal until recess, this time I sat on the bench. I had no friends so when a tall girl in my class appeared I thought she was going to talk to me but instead, she pushed me off the bench and laughed. I was extremely sad but I kept my feelings all locked in. This happened many times, continuing until the end of grade one. As I started grade 2 I thought it would be better, but it wasn't. Every year after that, it got progressively worse, until high school. I had enough, so I plucked up the courage to tell my parents, they believed me and they contacted the school immediately, the school denied what happened, and the next thing I know, I moved across the country. I was glad that my parents understood. I was so lucky to have amazing parents like them. I was so nervous to go to high school but I knew I had to. As time went on I realized that it wasn't so bad. I made new friends and I managed to gain so much more confidence. The next time someone did anything like that to me, I stood up for myself like I always should've. I soon realized that it was never me, It was always them.
Why I forgot my past:
I initially thought it would be better if I forgot it completely, and it truly is much better. Just like it is great to take a break from something that bothers you forever, it's great to take a break forever from your past. Especially if it bothers you or brings back horrid memories. This is a great example of how the past can affect you: Some times for some people, the past acts as their greatest enemy. For some people, the most awful things in their past life could affect them which could lead them to having hard times in their future. . They could rely and look back on their past and start blaming others/picking at things they have in their current life and start asking their self why this experience happened to them. They could fall back into the same misery and by that time it will become impossible for them to come out of it. In some ways, their society won’t allow them to learn from their past, which will soon impact them because they will keep on repeating their past, as history can truly repeat itself. There must be some reasons why the past contributes to building the future. We study history to learn where we were in the past and where we are now, to learn what worked for people in the past. We study history in order to remember the great achievements accomplished by the ones before us, to make our future greater and to remember the worst things that happen in the past and make sure that these things don't happen again in the future but, what if we create a new past, what happens if we create a new mistake? Well I think, that is the true importance of the past, we study history to know what is the right thing to do and what is wrong so that we can understand what to do in life and how the wrong things happen and how that can be prevented but sometimes it's okay to take the wrong path because at the end you will always lead to a new path and build you future.
So now that I've experienced this, it has made me a stronger person but, as an individual I've chosen to forget my past, this doesn't make me any less confident, it's just my choice. I always say the past is in your head and the future is in your hands and I live by that every day!

This was such a cool idea for a story!! Loved the way you broke it up :D Just a tip, I would recommend breaking each paragraph into smaller paragraphs, but other than that, you did an awesome job!!
