Adventure Historical Fiction Crime

Walk in fear of God. This is a talent that needs no show. It’s like walking a straight line laid out by many ancestors before . Remember them one foot in front of the other. If you stumble, stop and think how strong they must have been to walk this line that has been laid. Then begin again. We were made to fall but not to stay. We always stand and walk away. We are just simply made that way . This is a story about a brave and courageous man. No amount of time could ever make his story fade. He will never be forgotten for his story has been passed down for many years. His loving children of many generations have heard his stories told time and time again. From his story they all breathe in pride and love for this brave and courageous man never been seen but only heard of. It is pleasing to know that for every person that reads his story, life will be breathed into his history, keeping him alive almost as if he were here. The name of the courageous brave man is David Carwithen born in 1604 in England. What it must have been like to live in England in 1604. I can only imagine walking down beautiful country lanes that gently roll over the countryside. Passing by little thatched roof cottages with beautiful flower gardens in bloom while the scent of fresh flowers swirl around you. Finally making it to a small village town where the smell of fresh baked bread over takes the air. Shops on every corner full of things to buy fresh cut flowers on one side, baked bread jams, and jellies on the other side. For whatever reason this just wasn’t enough for David. He dreamed of a new life in a place that was almost like another world . He knew it was a wild and untamed land with danger around every turn. Just trying to get there you could certainly die, the seas were just as wild and turbulent as this new found world. He decided that life was made to live and he could only try to make it to his new life and find his place in a new world full of excitement and danger. In 1623 David boarded a massive wooden ship full of passengers ready to set out on a voyage that would take them to a wild new land . America, a place that was gaining a reputation for being a turbulent land full of danger and opportunity, was striking the imagination of many looking for an exciting new life. Aboard a wooden ship that looked like it might not make the trip David at age 15 set sail for a wild new world. As storm clouds gained strength in the sky the ship set sail into a violent sea. David watched as the shore line disappeared turning back wasn’t a thought. He stared into the wide open sea and strangely enough no fear he felt, only calmness and strength. After the first night of storms the seas began to calm. The weather was warm and there was a soothing cool breeze gently cooling the sea . Many enjoyed napping while others played card games. There was plenty to eat and the passengers were all very comfortable but mostly nervous about what they would see upon arriving in America. After three weeks of calm sailing one morning the wind began to gain strength. Dark ominous clouds began to form in the distance as the wind became more forceful the sea became violent . Waves rose up almost to the sky, crashing down on the ship and tossing it around. The Powerful wind hitting it from one side while violent waves crashed into the other side swirling it around. David and the passengers thought they would surely die. After an hour of being thrown around at sea the storm began to release the ship and its passengers from its mighty grip. The sea began to calm; they were all still alive. A look around the ship would prove it was stronger than they had believed . There was not a scratch made and everyone was okay. Captain redirected the ship back on course and once again they were on their way to America. The rest of the trip was mostly made with ease except for an occasional storm the seas were mostly calm. The ship had proven to be strong and was making the trip well. They were beginning to run low of food and supplies with America almost in sight. David's excitement began to grow he was about to make his first steps on the wild American soil. Just like that the trip was over there was land insight. You could hear the ship's crowd begin to roar. Everyone was cheering with excitement and saying land ahead we made it America is just up ahead . The ship came onto the shore line and docked . The passengers formed a single file line and began to unboard the ship quickly. David stayed on board for a moment, just staring in amazement at this new land . He couldn’t believe he had made it to his new life. It was just one step away . Finally David realized he had not left the ship with excitement he grabbed his bags, took a deep breath in and made his first big step in America. As he stepped off the ship's steps and onto the ground in Salem, Massachusetts USA his legs buckled a little and he suddenly remembered he had been at sea for two months.
