American Horror Historical Fiction

Summer is finally here. I can not wait to start this trip with my brother. My name is Carly. I'm sixteen years old. My brother is named Carson and this year is the year he agreed to take me to see the scariest places in Georgia. According to Google that is. I visited Maple Hill cemetery here in Huntsville Alabama a few years ago. That's the place that got me into liking all this creepy stuff. People call it the Dead Children's Playground. Rumor has it at night you can hear kids laughing and playing and see little orbs swinging on the swings.

I have this whole trip planned out.  A haunted summer road trip. It's going to be amazing.

Carson was putting the suitcases in the bag, when I came down stairs "Ready to go Picklehead," she jokingly laughed as I get in the front seat. I'm glad it's just us, a brother sister trip.

"Ready as i'll ever be, Bubba"

"One more thing, Kaley and Jeffery are coming. I know I promised it would just be us too, but Kaley loves this weird shit too and Jeffery can not stay home alone. Again"

I didn't like the idea of it not being just us but I did like Kaley she is one of my favorite people and she would love this trip just as much as I would "that is fine," I said "I will have someone who shares  common interests along the way " and that's true i'll be happy I have someone who shared my love of creepy stuff.

To Kaley and Jefferys' house only took around twenty minutes. They were already outside waiting. I hopped in the back, as Kaley is his girlfriend. I knew she would want to sit next to him after all this is a long ride from Huntsville, to Savannah Georgia. Our first stop was 428 miles away and a seven hour car ride.  Colonial park cemetery. 201 Abercorn street, Savannah, Georgia.

It was such a beautiful place to visit, during the day at least. I have some amazing pictures for my blog. My favorite part was the hanging tree in the park. Such an old yet beautiful tree. There Are so many untold stories about her, I couldn't take enough pictures of her. I could feel the spirits just around the tree. Attached so to speak, it wasn't long before Carson told us we had to go to the next one because it was right here in Savannah and we shouldn't spend all our time in one area. Especially on the first day

123 East Broughton Street, Savannah,  Georgia.  It's where we plan to spend the night. At the Marshall house. It's now a hotel and we could not pass up this opportunity to stay here tonight. It's said to be the home to some of  the friendliest ghosts.  Some other guests have said to have heard children playing and running down halls late at night as well as water turning on by themselves.

I want to say we heard that. But I got some eerily looking photos. The scariest thing to happen was while I was showering, the lights quit working, and I had to get Kaley to come in with a flashlight.

We woke up around 5am to go to the next area around 5 am, the next stop was only an hour away. Harville house 1850 harville road, Statesboro Georgia. The house was built in 1894 by Henry Keebler Harville.  As creepy as it sounds, it's very scary before dawn fully breaks. It looked like it was falling apart and I was terrified to walk in, but Jeffery wasn't. He went in, and took some photos for me. We left a hour later to head to the next area

2 hours away in Cochran Georgia was this bridge called Devil's Bridge. It's located on hwy 129. It's a place that was used by a satanic cult to perform rituals many many years ago. I wanted to wait until dark to see it to get the full effect, which we did in the meantime while we waited for the sun to go down. We went and ate filled up on gas. We almost got in a wreck. Luckily Kaley pulled the steering wheel. Carson wasn't paying attention.

It was just after dark and we went back to Devils bridge. It's so dark. It may sound cliche but we heard a car but never we saw any lights as people claim.

Traveling to Andersonville next we looked for a hotel for the night. It was very late and the house drive just seemed to drag on and on. When we finally arrived we all just slept and showered.

The next day we went to visit the Andersonville prison. This place was very odd. Things kept happening and I swear I saw soldiers. Many years ago it was said to be called Camp Sumter and held union soldiers' prisoners. Many died then and they now surely made themselves known to us. We could hear some gunshots and always had the cold chills even though it was burning hot outside. So many tombstones. I have never seen so many in my life.

When we arrived in Milledgeville, Georgia. This place was absolutely terrifying. Psychiatric hospitals are scary. I forgot I put these places on the list. The knowledge of knowing places like this are here today. And someone who could easily escape is scary enough but an abandoned one. I could not bring myself to go In. I was shaking badly. Carson promised to hold my hand if I went in. It was Georgia's first psychiatric hospital, opening in 1842 and closing in 1992.

620 broad street, Milledgeville, Georgia. They called it central state hospital

Next stop Oakland cemetery. W48 Oakland Avenue southeast, Atlanta Georgia.  There were so many statues I could not believe how big this place was. It is a resting places for 3,000 to 5,000 confederate soldiers. People claim at night you can hear the soldiers moaning out in pain.

I wish we could have stayed longer. But this trip is only a week long and we have to get to the other places before returning home.

Only 2 more places to visit before going home then i'll be able to post these pictures to my blog and share some amazing stories I have read about these places.

Tunnel hill 215 climb Austin road, tunnel hill GA. When we got to the tunnel I smelled something awful like a decaying animal or something. Such a horrid smell. Tunnel hill is said to be haunted by some  confederate soldiers and at night you could see some rotting corpses, and that's when the smell really gets rancid. We tried to walk the tunnel at night but it was so dark and we kept hearing stuff we had to go.

Our last stop was the Tennga motel. It's been a long week but I'm glad to get home but before I could do that we arrived in tennga Georgia only 30 minutes from tunnel hill. Such a small town we easily found the tennga motel. You can see where there has been no one to look after the place. People said to wait until nightfall so you could see people in the boarded up windows.

The place was beautiful in a scary way. Like a movie should be based on the place. Like someone just bought it and is traveling to fix it.

We started to head home. It was only 2 hours and 30 minutes away. Not far. Yet so far away. We ended the week off right.
