A somber oval mirror outlined in gold roses surrounds me.
My scarlet hair is ulotrichous down to my hourglass waist. My alabaster skin illuminates against the claret satin nightgown I wear. I am howling for the ebony-skinned man, hair as black as night and silver eyes that are phosphorescence. I can hear snarls, claws penetrating flesh, and blood-curdling screams as I pound on the glass. Cullen, Josh, and their warriors headed north. As they neared the training fields, they perceived that the snow and ice covering them had turned to water. The area is full of slush and puddles. Cullen and Josh shared a confused look. Laughter disturbed the silence as they came upon the spot that Jasmine and her demon witches waited. "I have the coign of vantage here. You are used to your snow, ice, and freezing temperatures. However, we rechanneled the ice into heat." Jasmine called out. "You would have had better luck in the snow, witch."
Josh chuckled as he walked towards the witch. The ground is freezing under his paws and spreading rapidly. Josh smiled. "Let's dance, shall we?" Jasmine's army charged towards the elemental wolves. They thought they had the upper hand, but the flock of demon witches slipped on the ground as they slid across the newly formed ice. Jasmine raised her hands, calling upon the sun and the earth's core, trying to melt the ice. Josh was pleased with this, staring into her hollow black eyes, freezing her from the inside out. However, Jasmine was able to break the hold he had on her. Cullen was attacking and killing her warriors. He noticed the more they killed, the more that arrived. Cullen stopped to concentrate; one died, two came, two died, four arrived. Indeed they would run out of soldiers soon.
The sky turned caliginous as a swarm of black gargoyle-sized owls with razor-like claws flew overhead. The owls began to dive two at a time toward each wolf, trying to lift them into the air. Cullen turns towards the demon witch attacking his flank, only to be knocked down by a couple of owls. They catch his shoulder and leg, slashing into fur and flesh. A warrior lunges and kills the demon witch as he falls to the ground, and Josh freezes the owls before they can finish the job. I wake with a start drenched in sweat and fighting for breath. I ease out of bed and make my way to the en-suite bathroom to get ready. "What was that and who are all of those people?" I ask my wolf, Eliza.
As she stepped into the tub, the bathroom door opened, and in walked the impossible. An evil grin on her face, "They thought they eliminated me. The thing is, they failed to destroy all of me." The cackle of her laugh had the girl scrambling out of the tub. However, Jasmine grabbed her long fiery red hair and propelled her head underwater. The water started erupting in bubbles and steam causing the witch to scurry away. "Find her!" an angelic voice hisses out. Shaking my head, I ask my wolf, "Zeke, what just happened?" "The moon goddess is telling us we need to protect her." I'm taking over as alpha of Ravenstone pack in three months. I need to find her. After breakfast with Josh, we shift into our wolves. Josh and I head for school, and we arrive in time for the second period. The smell of cinnamon and chocolate is overwhelming and inescapable as I bump into someone. My wolf Zeke is frantic. She looks up and locks her forest green eyes with mine. "MATE!" I growl out as I wrap her in my arms.
As I dash down the stairs, a horn honks outside. I roll my eyes, snatching a muffin and then whisking through the portcullis of my cabin. Rose is my best friend, and she is every man's dream: blonde hair prolific to her shoulders. Moonlite blue doe eyes on her bronze dimpled babyface. She is a witch, and I am a werewolf. We go to Crownhill High School for the supernatural. We breeze into English while Mr. Fitz is writing on the chalkboard. Slipping my rump into the seat, I inhale the faintest scent of blueberries. "Pssst, Callie! Rose whisper yells. What has got you in a daze?" Shaking my head, "Eliza is restless. She says my mate is near." The bell rings. I make my way to my locker, bumping into a muscular surface. Looking up to apologize, and it's him, the man from my dreams. "MATE," he growls out. I find myself entangled in his arms. Peeking up at him, "I'm Callie." Rose clears her throat, "Hey Callie, I think we should head to your place to speak with your mom. There is something you need to know." She says urgently.
As we all walk through the foyer, mother questions."Callie? Is that you?" She gets a surprised look, "who are your friends, dear?" Waving my hand towards Cullen." I met my mate's mom." His name is Cullen, and this is Josh." pulling him into a hug. Mom said, "Call me Samantha now that we are family," "Samantha, it's time she knows," Rose whispered. "I didn't think it would happen so soon." mom said, looking distraught. Callie's eyes widened in shock. "Can someone please explain what you are talking about?" "Honey, bring everybody to the living room, and I'll explain." Samantha sighed. When everyone was comfortable, Callie said, "Everyone is here, now can you explain, mom?" Samantha took a deep breath. "I want to tell you my history and where we originated. My father and mother were the King and Queen of the fae realm. They were fair and just to our people. When I turned eighteen, I found my mate, Fredrick. He was a few years older than me.
Also, he was about to take over as King of the ice wolves. We had our mating ceremony within a week, and everything was going exceptionally well. We were happy, content even. A few months later, I found out I was pregnant with you and your sister. I didn't want to raise you both in the public eye; we had acquired a prophecy.
It says, "A forbidden union between the fae princess and the ice prince will conceive a child. The child will be no ordinary child. It will be a girl; her eyes will be the color of ice and her hair the color of flames from a fire. She will not deny her heritage. She will force her two wolves to work as one. Her mate will be from a forbidden union but not foreseen but anyone but me. His mother is the air princess, while his father is the last surviving earth king. They both will be kept in the dark until the time is right. They will fight the demon witch and fail. They will need two others to help them complete the task. Two come from the council, one of air and fire and the other of earth and ice. Combine all of their powers to finish what the first to have started."
"Please forgive me," Samantha said. "Callie, you are the princess of half of the elemental wolves and the fae realm, while Cullen is the prince to the other half. Rose, the air and fire wolf/witch, and Josh, the earth and ice wolf. Rose and Josh come from the fae realm. You and Cullen will unite the Kingdoms once the mating ritual is complete. The four of you will finish the prophecy." Callie stood up and started pacing the floor while shouting out. I have a sister? I don't have two wolves, and my eyes are green! What happened to my father?" Also, Rose doesn't have a wolf! Hugging her, Samantha said, "Shh, Callie, calm down, let me explain." Rose has been suppressing your second wolf along with cloaking hers until the time is right. Once you merge your wolves, your eyes will change color.
The night you were born was incredibly hard on me. Fredrick decided to take away my fae powers so that the baby would hopefully not inherit them. The doctors decided that it would be best to have a c-section. When they opened me up, there was a twin. Your father took the twin, saying that she had died. She was technically born first. However, Callie, you were stuck in the birthing canal. So you were supposed to be the first twin born. I believe that your father has kept your sister hidden away. He is Jasmine's son, and they sent him out to be raised by his father's family after she killed his father. Fredrick is not just the ice price. He is also a half-demon witch. Your father took your sister because the prophecy states that the firstborn will destroy all demon-witches.
Shaking in Cullen's embrace, Callie asked, "does this mean I am a half-demon witch since dad was?" "No, Fortunately, you did inherit my fae powers, and Fredrick only thought he took them from me." Shaking her head, "This is insane," Callie said. "We have already fought that witch, and we killed her," Cullen exclaimed. "Cullen, did this happen last night?" Callie asked. " I had a dream of the fight last night, and then Jasmine attacked me in the bathroom this morning." Callie cried out. Hugging her, Cullen whispered, "I had a dream this morning of her drowning you in the bathtub. How are we going to stop her?" Samantha getting up; Callie, we need to pack now and leave. We need to go to Ravenstone as expeditiously as possible to have your mating ceremony and get help.
Ravenstone is the most exorbitant but dreaded place I have ever seen. This place is the most extensive and most refined pack land in the world. Towering buildings, malls, parks, and markets are all in that region. It's every wolf's haven, neutral ground with a ruthless alpha making every wolf submit to his rules. Marcos, Cullens father, was a beast who could turn his enemy's world upside down and destroy them in the palm of his hand with no remorse. The reason why every wolf fears him. Marcos, Jenny, and the council were awaiting our entry on the stone steps of the packhouse.
Jasmine and her daughter Hazel wandered for weeks, seeking allies to help get revenge on the Ravenstone pack. (Flashback) Long ago, Jasmine mated to a warlock and a wolf, and she got pregnant by Zeus, the wolf. Victor, the warlock, wanted to claim the baby as his and use him as the kingdom's rightful heir. He mangled Zeus to his death when she denied him, shredding him apart from limb to limb, forcing Jasmine to reject him. She has been plotting her revenge on Ravenstone for one hundred years. (End flashback) The first village was Romania, where the vampires lived.
The vampire king Klaus had denied their request for assistance, and he had heard the stories that were already rolling in the rumor mill. On the other side of the river was the Deep Forest, home of the harpies responsible for establishing the parliament of the enormous owls used in the battle of Ravenstone. Fearing repercussion, they refuse aid to the duo. The next town was Hallows End, home to the demon witches. The very home victor had lived when he was a child and the one where her mother raised her.
They denied her request because she had butchered her husband. She didn't even feel remorse, but they couldn't prove that he died at her hands. They came across another town: Ogres, trolls, witches, and even an elemental wolf tribe that has gone against every law ever written. Yet every species denied her any quarter. Jasmine was becoming doubtful and annoyed that they would find any allies at all. Jasmine was losing hope, while Hazel was hopeful of getting a reunion with her brother. "Mother, maybe we should see if Fredrick has anyone to help us," Hazel said, optimistic. "You, my pet, only want to see your brother. you don't even care what happens to me, do you?" Jasmine threw at her.
Hazel thought, "no, I wish you would just die." but aloud she said, "yes, other I do. I want to revenge as you do." Jasmine rolled her eyes and huffed, "At the next town, we will rest a couple of days. I am not as juvenile as I used to be."
They ran into a young girl in the next town, and Sarah offered them a bed and refreshments. Unbeknownst to Jasmine, Hazel had plotted this all along. The week before going from town to town, Hazel had gone and told everyone what her mother did, begging them to refuse her. She made a deal in substitution for Sarah's help; she would give her whatever potions she could want. So she gave Jasmine sleeping powder for days while she held up her end of the bargain. Once completed, they left for Fredricks refuge. Mutating into crows, they circumnavigated.
Cullen awoke to find Callie crying on the sofa, "What's wrong?" Callie looked over at him, smiling, "Nothing is wrong. I was pondering how fortunate we are." "I understand: we are truly blessed. I know we haven't bodily mated, and it doesn't seem to drive me as crazed as I have heard others talk about," Cullen stated. "Well, good thing the ceremony is today," Callie snorted. Cullen built a magnificent arch with white-bog orchids intricately intertwined around for the wedding. He also made the grass grow with single delights and forget-me-nots. As everyone began to get ready for the wedding, Samatha received a phone call stating Melissa found Callie's sister and they were on their way to Ravenstone, and Jasmine, Hazel, and Fredrick cast an inconspicuous spell pass through the barrier unseen.
Callie climbed out of the shower encased in a fluffy white robe, her hair twisted down her back. She wore an embroidered lace sleeve white dress that caressed her curves while the bridesmaids wore sleeveless with a sweetheart neckline that was the same azure as the forget-me-nots. Their hair is up in curls and little makeup. Cullen was high-strung to the point that his hands were quivering, and he could feel his heart pulsating in his chest. The band started performing a soft melody letting everyone know it was about to begin. The music increased, and the bridesmaids strolled in harmony with the beat.
The music shifted again: Cullen felt his heart go to his throat as he waited. As Callie moved into view, the breath he was holding left his lungs. He couldn't take his eyes off of his bride. She was breathtaking. Her dress was as white as freshly fallen snow, and it was silk with a lacey overlay. The long lacey sleeves that mirrored flowers reached her elbows. They spoke their vows, and Cullen kissed the bride as a plane arrived. Melissa climbed out of the aircraft with Callie's sister Maddie. Callie and Cullen ran to as they heard Josh declare they had some pressing business to attend and please enjoy the food.
As Callie and Maddie embraced, a force field exploded around them. Callie felt like she was drifting away from all the people that she loved. When she opened her eyes, she saw her wolves running and playing with Maddie's wolves. "I am your twin sister. Do you know of me?" Callie asked. Bouncing with emotion, Maddie replied, "Yes, I want to get to know you." Callie chuckled, "We will have an abundance of time, but first, I have the battle to win, and we need to cross each of the fields to wake up in the real world. I promise I'll be there when you wake up."
Waking up in the real world, Callie and Maddie are astonished to find that the battle has already begun. Jasmine was standing on a stage with Rose, Cullen, and Josh around her along with our pack warriors. Callie howls, a fire ignites between them, and spins in a slowly contracting spiral consuming Jasmine's clothes. However, she laughed, "Is that all you can do?" Cullen forms a tornado absorbing her oxygen away as vines sprout from the ground, coiling around her ankles and wrists. The vines stretched in all various directions causing her limbs to disengage from her body. First, her head protruded off, emitting flames and turning to ash. Jasmine's right arm, then her left, was extracted from her body, shattering into millions of pieces of ice as they hit the platform. Her legs turned to stone; her body hit the stage and crumbled into ash. Jasmine was gone. Everyone gathered around the hearth, ready for a new chapter.
