The Mobility Place. Inundation. Saturation. It’s all just the same.

Adventure Drama Teens & Young Adult

Wait a minute.

Wait. Just a minute.

What’s the point?

Of a Dry January.

Of a Dry “bar.”

If I see another person on their mobile device, driving in a car, I think I am gonna blow.

Head blow kind of thing.

Explosion out, in, up, down and ask: How can you operate a vehicle machine while looking down? Two hands on the wheel, ten and two and for those who have been around awhile: That’s clock-speak for where to place our hands most safely on the wheel.

Curiosity causes me to ask the million dollar question:

Which kind of saturation is Dry January in a dry bar supposed to cure?

The desire? The thirst? The provement of discipline.

We are not talking about a challenge.

Some of this heart wrenching stuff is lifelong—-as in wrecks a person’s life, lifelong.

Smugness in saying hey I did it, for a month, so now let’s go get “plowed.”……

Seems rather hypocritical. To attempt to make a person who has a serious issue, look even worse and smugness for you and because “you did it!” While another person who desperately struggles continues to struggle. Does it feel good to be involved in the oneupmanship of a so called “loser.”

I would call it, you, mean.

Like gaslighting mean.

Kick ‘em when they’re down kinda mean.

It really makes no difference if you frequent a bar that is a dry one. Goody for you.

My hunch is you are staring down at your phone, processing all the scrolling and becoming numb in the process.

Anyway.

There are noble goals. Nobler goals.

Nobler than thinking you can unimbibe in a building that has already unimbibed.

There are buildings and places and spaces of this kind that already exist. They are called “Rehab.” As in, make look better, but underneath, the same old same old. Same old hurts, same old highs, same old lows and same old bys, and byes.

Frequenting the non frequentable will not make it all go away. Not frequenting the frequentable will not make it all better.

Especially, when the damage is done.

Damage has been done.

It sticks.

Kicking another when they are down is a sad and sour way to get your kicks. It is not even about pride. Of self, or accomplishments.

Payback is not the answer.

Society as a whole is distracted in ways never before seen.

Inundated. Saturated. Distracted.

Bumping into walls inundation.

Bumping into walls saturation.

Bumping into walls distraction.

Sitting in a corner bar, dry bar, or salon bar—with the mobile cell ball and chain is the same as downing a six pack in an hour.

(You think, ponder, how does this writer KNOW this.)

We all have histories and pasts that can muck it all up.

Dry bar, wet bar, milkshake bar, etcetera, etcetera.

“Here comes the judge”…. is not up to you.

Judging the problems of another…..takes time.

Takes your time.

Takes my time.

Consider it a walk down memory lane.

With someone who “gets it.”

The more important question:

In the interest of discipline:

What would happen to you if you could not use your phone for a whole month.

I can almost hear the screams from here.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Twitch, Twitch, Twitch, Twitch, Twitch, Twitch, Twitch, Twitch.

Noooooooooooooooooo Wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy😳

No wonder nobody holds hands anymore……..

Their hands are too “occupied.”

With the newsy news of the day.

Gotta know what so and so is wearing to the party.

Click.

Scroll.

Buy.

Scroll.

Wear.

Repeat.

The mind is inundated, saturated. With the feelings that we do not measure up. Or down. Or wherever. Sitting in the corner of the Dry January bar.

Hey. We get it. The cash cows become thirsty when the sales of alcohol go “Bye. Bye.” After all, there are few money makers that match the sales of the delicious sellers: beers, IPAs and the like…..so on and so on. What to do. What to do.

Sit in a drybar and pretend. To not look at the phone, the device, any device. Held within the palm of our hands.

Tethered like the ball and chain are you? To your own hand. What’s the point of sitting in a dry bar, during Dry January, drinking dry liquids?

I don’t get it.

High expectations. To see the truth. (RL).

High hopes.

Pressure.

Low expectations.

Soft bigotry of low expectations (RL).

A constant ingredient of a good attitude:

Challenge yourself.

To be better than the day before.

Small. Baby steps.

Day by day.

The basics will eventually take over.

They will.

At the same time, the judgments will melt away.

We can be most hard on: Ourselves.

Mediocrity is the stepping stone from low to high.

Expectations.

When we fall short.

We all do.

Best to not point the finger.

Awareness of what you are capable of is half the battle.(ctbs)

The test is up to you, too.

Set yourself up for failure, and chances are,

You will fail.

Believe in something greater than yourself is perseverance.

Idoltry is “fun.”

Thinking we do not measure up to perfection is devastation.

Self-devastation.

Resentment is the number one offender. (lk)

Words to live by.

Anger is not a productive way to live.

It is hard on the heart.

Anger can be a powerful motivator.

Anger can derail an intention.

Anger when properly channeled is:

Grace.

By: Charles and Mary Lamb

Anger in its time and place.

May assume a kind of grace.

It must have some reason in it,

And not last beyond a minute.

If to further lengths it go,

It does into malice grow.

’Tis the difference that we see

’Twixt the serpent and the bee.

If the later you provoke,

It inflicts a hasty stroke,

Puts you to some little pain,

But it never stings again.

Close in tufted bush or brake

Lurks the poison-swelled snake

Nursing up his cherished path,

In the cold, or in the warm,

Mean him good, or mean him harm,

Wheresoever fate may bring you,

The vile snake will always sting you.

Ouch.

In the self-discipline of life, one makes a disciple of oneself. One is one’s own teacher, trainer, coach and disciplinarian. It is an odd sort of relationship, and many of us do not handle it very well.(wjb)

Tempers,

Appetites,

Passions,

Impusles.

”Oh, if only I had stopped myself” is all too familiar.(wjb)

We all are guilty of it. Or lack of it.

Discipline. Self. Discipline.

Allow the self punishment to fit the self crime.

Tomorrow,

by God’s grace,

is another beautiful day.
