Hope You Like Life Savers

The sun blazed on to her azure skin as red as a tomato. Healing from a sunburn, freckles freshly forming, and her tank top blowing in the wind. People smiling all around not able and not wanting to ever stop smiling. The waves crashing on the shore. People run around playing volleyball, swimming, and reading, yet even though they are all doing different things they all are having fun. 

 Everyone can see once they step on the beach that there are two types of people at the beach. The people that are confident in their body wearing what they wish, and not caring what they look like every moment.Then, people that are self conscious. That can’t stop thinking if they look okay, and how they can hide what they look like through hiding in the water or in an oversized shirt. 

This sunburned girl with black hair was in the second category unfortunately. She was at the beach with her childhood friends Kyla and Grey. They had known each other since elementary school and were inseparable since their first meeting. They knew each other better than they knew themselves at times. 

Grey yells “Gwen slow down your going to trip!”. 

Kyla responds “ Let her have fun she is never like this. She is always such a worry wart about one thing or another.”.

Gwen gets to the water and slowly starts to put her feet in cautiously because it has been so long since she last went and didn’t want to waste the opportunity even for a second. Her hair is going wild with the wind and she gracefully swipes it back to look back at her friends to see them far away. Gwen yells to them “Hurry up, I want to go in!”. 

They stay at the same pace and both in unison exclaim “Be there in a second. Just wait a little longer.”.

 Gwen waits persistently staring at the water wanting to get in and all she can think is “should i just go in? If I go in before they get here, what will happen? I know how to swim! Why do they treat me like a kid? Just because I’m clumsy doesn’t mean I can't take care of myself!”.she starts nedging into the water.

A group of guys come up to her and Gwen doesn’t even notice because of the level of excitement she has for getting in the ocean. The leader of the guys remarked pompously “ Hey sweet thang, what are you doing here all alone? Do you need some company? Cause i think we can help you out with that!”. Him and his gang laughs. Then Kyla and Grey notice what is happening and rush over. While Gwen is still oblivious to what is happening right behind her. Kyla notices a guy on the side watching this go down and wonders if he is a part of it. 

The leader of the group of guys starts to get offended by the lack of attention from Gwen and grabs her arm. At this point Grey and Kyla are sprinting. Then the mysterious guy got up and started running as well. Gwen inquired to the leader of the guys “Why are you touching my arm? All i want to do is swim with my friends?”. The young men of the group start to snicker at their boss for the response she gave and the leader throws a punch at Gwen. Gwen ducks and flips him ready to take on the rest. The other guys of the group surge her and she takes them all out easily. 

The mystery man stands in ah a few feets away and starts to snicker that a girl wearing tank top twice the right size for her with a daffy duck pun on it, superman trunks, spongebob flip flops, and looking to have the amount of confidence in her appearance as a chicken has the ability to fly. Gwen’s friends finally get there and both worrily inquire “ Are you okay? Why do you keep getting into these types of situations and who is that guy over there?”. 

Gwen explains “ Don’t worry I’m fine. I was just looking at the ocean and then these guys came up to me. I didn’t realize that they were trying to talk to me and grabbed me. So, this happened.”.

They all look over to the mystery man and start to wonder about him. Kyla whispers “ maybe he is a pervert that likes to watch fights and get off on them?”. 

Grey whispers “He doesn’t look like the type to do that in public.”

Gwen whispers “ I hope not all I want to do is go in the water!”

The mystery guy shouted “ Excuse me1 I’m right here!”. He continues quieter and clears his throat “ So, I’m not a pervert or anything of the sort and I just saw the fight and I was worried about your friend getting hurt, so I was going to step in.”.

Grey asked prossumbly “then what is your name “good” samaritan.” 

The Mystery guy answered “Oh yeah my name is Jame. This is my first time to the beach in a while.”

Gwen thinks back about coming to the beach the last time and remembers a boy from  back then and where he is now. Then she pondered  how oddly familiar that Jame looks to her. She asks Jame “have we met somewhere before?” 

Jame blushes and responds “ No… i don’t believe so. If i met someone as beautiful as you I would remember.”.

Gwen stares and inquires deeper “ Are you sure? Let me have your number to check!”

James looked away trying to hide his face from her and replied “ N-nno… I’m sure you haven’t  and yeah that would be great! Well i got to go now see you later.”

Kyla exclaimed to Gwen “ Well weren’t you awful friendly to him. You aren’t even that nice to me .”

Gwen reples “ Well he just seems so familiar and he acted so weird when i asked him about it. Let’s go swimming now!”.she runs into the water leaving all of her worries on the shore. She comes out and is starving so she runs toward the buffet but gets lost.

Fortunately she is found by James and he helps her find the way to the buffet and she asks for his phone number again after she is done eating so much food it puts him in ah again. He gives her his phone number this time knowing he can't get out of it this time. She realizes in her phone she already has that number in her phone life saver, and that he was the boy from her memories of the beach last time when she was saved by him.
