The Summer of 1992

“I would start running if I was you” we hear the engine start and we begin to run into the woods deeper and deeper into the woods we run as we run we hear the car engine revving around us “This is for Payton girls” they yell out my mind my mind is racing why us why me I wonder the car engine stops I stop running too “Tabi come on we can’t stop” Willow say’s “Guys listen the car stopped moving maybe they stopped looking for us” I say as I sit on a nearby boulder “Tabi they’re not gonna stop looking for us we gotta go” Ayisha says “No no we gotta figure out who it is and why they’re doing this but before we can do that we gotta talk about how we got here” I say everyone looks nervous and afraid “If we don’t figure out who this if They’re gonna kill us” I yell Ayish stands up and saunters toward me “Why don’t you start Tabi” she says my breath hitches with this request “Okay I will it was the summer of 1992 in Coldmont,Montana we just graduated from 8th grade and Willow and I were at Payton’s house Payton seemed to be the perfect person I can still see her face the dark jet black hair the perfect body and that day she also had on the perfect swimsuit everyone was looking at her she was beautiful everyone applauded as she approached then she started a speech ‘Thank you guys so much for coming to my birthday party I can’t believe I’m 13’ then I started to tune her out why was I here I walked into the house once inside I grabbed my bag ‘Your leaving’ I hear from behind me ‘Um yeah I gotta go home I um forgot my swimsuit so I was just about to call my dad and go’ ‘you don’t have to go’ Payton ran into her room I followed when I stepped I was taken aback her room was perfect it was huge pink wallpaper and a huge California King bed Payton rummaged through her dresser and pulled out the most beautiful pacific blue swimsuit ever ‘Here take it’ she said I was reluctant but I learned when Payton Elwood told you to do something you did it with no questions asked and a smile on your face I took the swimsuit and went into the bathroom to change and went back into the backyard I saw Payton on the other end of the backyard I stated walking over to her ‘Look at Tabitha’s swimsuit’ I heard someone say to the right of me my eyes shoot around to my butt and I see a huge black stain Payton strolls up to me ‘Tabi what did you do to my swimsuit’ tears began to well up in my eyes ‘No no I didn’t do this it was like this when I found it’ all I remeber was everyone looking at me with a look of disgust on their face I ran into the house and got my stuff and ran toward the front door ‘Good job’ I heard my head swung around to see who was saying it it was Crystal one of Payton’s friend and she was high fiving Payton I ran into the backyard and jumped on Payton I just started punching her and hitting her that’s when Mrs.Elwood grabbed me ‘What are you doing’ she looked furious then she looked at Payton her nose was bleeding and she had bruises across her face ‘Payton what happend’ Mrs.Elwood asked ‘She just started fighting me for no reason’ Payton started crying and Mrs.Elwood turned to me ‘Tabitha you need to call your dad and go’ I turned around and walked towards the house then I felt someone push me I fell into the pool and I saw Payton standing over me I got out of the pool got my stuff and ran out of the house I couldn’t believe what had just happened that night when I was taking out the trash I saw Payton and Sophie outside my house they were in Sophie’s car I couldn’t hear them but I could tell they were arguing Sophie was yelling at Payton and when Payton started to yell back Sophie slapped her I wanted to go inside but I couldn’t my eyes were glued on them and at that moment they drove off the next day I heard the news while at school Payton was murdered last night I didn’t ask questions but I did think about what I saw I did think about what if I had just witnessed a argument that lead to a murder now nine years later that’s come back to bite me” Tabitha stands up and pats her hands clean from the dirt “But someone is pissed at us and apperently think one of us has something to do with the murder of Payton Elwood so one of us is the murder” I say then I turned to Ayisha “Ayisha you never liked Payton if anyone had a motive to kill her nine years ago it was you” Ayisha looks down at her hands sorrowfully “But we can say that about any of us let’s be real none of us liked Payton we all had arguments with her but to kill her takes to another level I don’t think any of us could have killed her” Willow say I walk over to her “It’s not about what we think nine years ago a girl can dead and in that week we all had a problem with her so I told my story but now it’s someone elses turn to tell theirs” I say “Okay I’ll go” Willow says Willow sits in the dirt I take a quick look around “Guys where did the car go” I ask “I don’t know but the quicker we get these stories done the quicker we figure out who the murder is” Ayisha says
