Yes.

Agree.

May I politely ask you?

Do you.

Agree or Disagree.

Where do you stand?

On the “living in paradise spectrum”—circling—In and around and on an

Island.

Another day in one person’s paradise may actually and possibly factually be a day of great challenge in the space of another person’s consideration of paradise.

My apologies for the negativity bug taking a bite out of my spirit today. It will pass.

It has been a long day.

A long haul.

Many cooks in the kitchen.

All that kinda stuff.

They come.

They go.

They stay.

They sow.

Seeds.

And then.

They take off.

Seeds of doubt.

Seeds of temporary drought.

Tough pill to swallow with nothing to wash it down with.😣

Ouch.

Don’t get me wrong.

I like my own company.

Others as well.

It may be all in the timing.

May. Be.

Who knows.

Ahhhhhh. Paradise. Sand. Trees. Palm trees even.

There is a lot to be said for trees waving in the wind, the sound of exotic birds chirping, monkeys swinging from tree to tree, all the pineapple one can eat in a day. Mmmm. Mmmmm.

Evil is nowhere to be found. On paradise island. Heavenly place of heavenly space.

Personal space.

Spacey space.

Wide and open space.

No sounds bouncing off the walls of discontent.

No doubt.

No questioning questions cluttering the mind.

All love.

No animus.

Love. Peace.

And. Quiet.

Then. The loud noise. The loud bang. The mind goes back to places it remembers.

The sinking feeling of familiarity rushes in. The gut.

Even a dog distinguishes being stumbled over and being kicked.

Ahhhhhh. Man’s best friend to the rescue again.

While all is quiet, we scan through our memory banks for a clue.

Most often. The clue is staring us in the face… like the good dog does when testing the mood of the guy who walks him around……

Pensively. Assessively. Is all ok?

To take a walk with this guy?

Reflections are our way of making sense of reality. About the reality of society. We oftentimes get pulled back to the familiar because we know it feels at the very least familiar and at the very most, uncomfortably comfortable.

Havelock knew of the benefits of societal good. Of an individual coming into their own, coming into being, growing. In fact, eugenically he believed that for society to improve, eugenics—-from the Greek word, good, will aim to improve the genetic quality of a human population.

Maybe not out here on paradise island. But I think the drift if gotten.

Sadly, eugenics and eugenicists have attempted to alter human gene pools by excluding people and groups judged to be inferior or promoting those judged to be superior.

🫨😳

Sounds awfully awful and excluding and all that yuck stuff. And. The fact the concept goes back hundreds of years is down right frightening.

Score one for us island beings.

Mom always said an apple a day keeps the doctor away.

Fast forward to the century we are currently living in, and things get hot—too hot. As does a progressive group of CRISPRs gene editing: splice, slice and dice that which is desirable and “toss” out that which is not, desirable. It goes somewhere……else.

Eeek.

The defense of this exclusion is in the interest of science. The science of “improvement”. Creation of new medicines, modified organisms (not necessarily one person with three heads kinda stuff).A means of controlling pathogens and pests.

The CRISPR process involves meticulous editing of genes. In vivo. That is not to be confused with a French or Italian wine. If you happen to be unsure of its meaning, the local medical dictionary may clarify—much to your momentary disgust.

The good news. Depending on how one looks at it.

The process is cheap.

The process is easy.

The process uses scissors.

The process is to cut.

The process is to cut out someone at the expense of another.

Life in Paradise in 2024.

The AAAS’s (not to be confused with A*SS*😉) considered the CRISPRs editing technique to be the breakthrough of the year in 2015. Medically advanced science technique for the health issues of certain individuals of which, in 2015, 4.4 million people carried— a bit like a blood like disease. (wk)

Score one for life on paradise island. Provided there is safe drinking water nearby. And/or pineapple supplies are in abundance.

All the art of living comes in a fine mingling of letting go and holding on. Havelock Ellis.

He would be invited on my island. For certain. For certain. I would love to hang out with his thoughts about diversity, inclusion and all things inclusive.

He sounds like a smart guy.

He developed notions. Not just potions. To dissect the notions like the middle school frog sounds great. On my island. Ellis developed the notions of narcissism and auto eroticism, later adopted by psychoanalysis.(wk)

Highly useable stuff for the young today as what flies across their screens are oftentimes many scantil clad beings scantily cladding and clapping along their days and ways, heads buried in the screen shotted pics of themselves.

I think that is why Havelock concluded that the art of living lies in a fine mingling of letting go and holding on. Instead of the current Me Too movement, there was a group of The Famous Five that also pushed for eugenic policies related to the deteriorating characteristics of females in the 1800’s that faded along and around the 1930’s. One can historically conclude the hows and whys of the whys.(wk)

Sounds strangely familiar. Of today. Although the fight may look different and more civilized. What goes on behind closed doors still goes on behind closed doors.

Que Sera Sera

Whatever Will Be Will Be.

’Cept if we splice the gene pool, of course.

As The Famous Five and their movement was defined as a movement back then, the desired gender equality pushed for eugenic law and science to compromise and meet their views in order to breed a superior race. (wk)

Ok?

With you?

Just wonderin’.

Meet in the middle?

Compromise may not be a dirty word.

But.

How much splicing, slicing, and dicing is allowable.

In order to be acceptable of the “change.”

Welcome to Paradise Island.
