Planet Kepler

The year is 3098. Earth had been destroyed by pollution and global warming. The earth was uninhabitable for humans and animals. NASA found a new planet that was similar to Earth with water, grass, and plenty of clean air. The new planet was discovered in 3030 and scientists were sent over to prepare the planet for habitation. Soon there were eco friendly homes, buildings and cars. This was mankind's second chance to make the world right and keep their planet healthy and clean.

The government didn’t want their new world to turn out how Earth did; so the government wasn't as lenient about how the new planet worked. There were very few factories but they were all eco friendly. Most of the food in the stores were homegrown and nothing was wasted and it was reused.

Homes were powered by satellites that collected energy from the sun and moon. Cars and other transportation vehicles were charged by the energy collected by the house. Children had great schooling and adults had amazing jobs. Most food was grown in a garden that they would share with their block.

Zach and Liv, two children from sector 87, block 5, liked to learn about the history of the old Earth and why they no longer lived there. Their great times 20 grandma used to make videos when she was living on earth. She would explain what was happening in current events and what has changed. Most of her videos were from the year 2020 when the world was at the lowest point. She started working on a machine that would hopefully take her back in time to correct some of the world's problems like global warming and pollution.

One rainy day, Zach and Liv were going through some of their grandma's old belongings. They found a machine that looked like a measuring tape. They were slightly confused when they pulled the machine out of the box. Zach pulled on the measuring tape and it gave off a glow and then a spark. Liv was more into engineering than Zach so she quickly started looking at the machine.

Liv worked on the machine in her garage and after working on it for a while she figured how it worked and explained how it worked to Zach. After a while they came up with a plan to travel back into time and meet their grandma. They would finally be able to see what Earth was like. They pulled the measuring tape to the year they wanted to go back to. When they let the measuring tape go, they were gone.

They flew through time backwards and finally reached the year of 2020. When they got there, everyone was wearing masks; the kids thought it was a fashion thing and decided to put one on to fit in. They then started to look for their grandma.

After searching for what seemed like days they finally found her. They introduced themself as her great grandkids and she instantly invited them inside. She asked them how their trip was and how they got the machine to work. She made them lunch and got them settled in. After talking about the year 3098 they started to talk about 2020.

She told them how Covid-19 was started by someone in China eating a bat and how many people had died from it. She told them how there were flesh eating locusts in Africa and killer hornets in Asia. She told them about the Oregon fires, the hurricanes, global warming, pollution and they had an orange man as a president.

The kids agreed that the year 2020 was not a good year and that Earth was not a good planet. They knew that if they went back in time and altered the past it could be consequential for their future. They wanted a way to make Earth better. They came up with a plan to go back further into time with their grandma to see what the past was like.

They took their measuring tape, pulled it to the year 1920 and released it. When they arrived, they saw beautiful people dancing and having fun. The ladies were in these funny looking dresses that had lots of fringe on them and feather headbands with bangs and short bobs haircuts. The men were in nice suits, had their hair slicked back and smoked cigars. They loved the wild and free spirits and they even met a man named Gatsby.

They had their fun and wanted to move on to the 1940’s. When they got to the 1940 they realized it was nothing like the 1920’s. There was an enormous amount of fighting going on. Pearl Harbor had been attacked by the japanese, D-Day in Normandy, and the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings. Zach and Liv couldn't understand why different countries were fighting. They did however meet a  woman who protested their rights to vote. They decided they couldn't do much to change the past so they moved on.

They then went to the 1960’s and when they arrived they were amazed to see the first man land on the moon. They saw a man named Martin Luther King Jr. speak about peace and black rights. They saw a president assassinated and went to many protests for different events. They helped in the civil rights movement and even went to hippie protests. It was yet again time to move on.

They arrived in the 1980’s and were fascinated by it. Everyone seemed so upbeat and happy. They had a weird sense of fashion and wore lots of leg warmers, terrible makeup and lots of color. The people partied immensely and crimped their hair. Zach and Liv were having fun learning about earth and history but they decided to keep moving on.

They went to the 2000’s and they couldn't believe what they saw. There was the attack of 9/11 and there was new technology being made. The government was starting to get stronger and stronger while the health of the earth was getting worse. Polar ice caps started menting and pollution levels were rising.. Zach and Liv thought going back into time would help them find a way to fix the world but they didn’t find a way to change any of it.

They went back to the year 2020 and realized there was nothing they could do about the Earth. Zach and Liv loved learning about the history and decided it was time to go home. They gathered their belongings and said goodbye to their grandma. Zach and Liv took the measuring take and pulled it to 3098. They were finally home. They rushed into their house and apologised to their mother for being gone for so long. She looked at them in disbelief and asked them what they were talking about.

Zach and Liv told their mom about the crazy adventures they had and all the history they learned. She told them they had gone into the garage and were looking through old belongings  20 minutes ago. Zach and Liv looked quite confused and quickly realized that when they went back in time, the present time froze. It was as if it were all a dream to them.
