A Hero: Maxwell and DallWall's talk

“Maxwell, did you drop her?" 

“Yes, sir. Should I come back, or will you do the opening?” 

“I need you here, Maxwell. I guess, there are some things we need to talk...to discuss about. Come back here ASAP.” 

“Sure, sir DallWall.” 

“Good.” he was about to disconnect his speaker when he remembered something. “Oh, and...she has no clue?” 

Maxwell chuckled manically, and replied, “Nope. And I don’t think she ever will.” 

“Haha, good, Maxwell. Don’t let me down, not like that weasel did.” 

“Oh, I won’t, sir.” 

“You know, there was something about you that felt trustworthy to me. I am never wrong.” 

Oh, sometimes everyone is bound to being incorrect, sir. Maxwell thought, but just chuckled as a response. “Thank you, sir. It is an honor to be working for you.” 

“Oh, I know. That’s how everyone feels!” 

“Well, other than that weasel.” 

DallWall’s voice choked up a little, and he felt a bit uneasy about his words. “Now, Maxwell, don’t ever mention his name.” 

“Ok, sir.” 

“I want you to reach the dome in another ten minutes. You remember, the app we were talking about? To track him?” 

“Yes,” 

“Well, I think I am officially feeling comfortable with the app. Meaning, I’ve just become aware that we won’t really need her after all.” 

“What? No, sir, we need her!” 

“Huh? You dare speak against my words Maxwell?! This is low, even for you, and that weasel.” 

“But the police can figure and might throw us in jail instead of her! Do you want that to happen? We built her so that she can take all the blame!?” 

“Yes, yes, you do have a good point. But what if she isn’t behaving good? I did put emotions when building her, which was already risky.” DallWall spoke, hesitantly. 

“We did plan the punishment! She’ll be afraid. Let her enjoy her first day of “Westview Middle School”. When she comes home, we’ll tell her about the norms and consequences there are for all her actions.” 

“Hmm, ok, I do like the sound of that. Great work today, Maxwell.” 

Oh, I am much cunning than you are, DallWall, and once the time comes, with her, you will be banished. 

“Thank you so much, sir. It is an honor for me, really, to be hearing such positive words from a wealthy man like you!” Maxwell hated saying these gooey things to him, it made him flinch. 

“Now, enough of the talking, start the engine.” 

“I sure will.” he laughed ferociously.

Soon, Maxwell did reach their dome, and DallWall smiled a little, and stopped worrying. He relaxed a little, and soon, they both went inside to their main work room. 

“So, you had said something about our rouge tracker?” 

“Yes, and I am quite excited. The thought which has come to me is that we can use this to track that weasel. Once we do, we can bring him here. Just, about that Beta, I don’t know. I feel like she is useless now. What are your thoughts, Maxwell?” 

“As I had told you before, we need that android. You see, it’s not only that piece of technology we want from your so—” 

“Don’t you dare speak about him. He betrayed me. He changed into an android! He lied to me and almost tried to kill me. He will never have a place in my heart.” 

Ha! Poor DallWall blames his child, but if only he knew that there was a darker force, toying inside him.  

“I am humbly sorry, sir. I fear that I should not have spoken about him. It’s just...nostalgia, you know? I just thought about your son and my mouth had blurted it out by accident.” 

“Whatever, Maxwell. But do not repeat this again...I cannot tolerate it.” 

“Yes, sir.” he looked down, but glanced at DallWall again. “You may carry on.” 

“Thank you. Now, what I was saying is that this app is the key to our success. Once we get the piece, I can do what we wanted. Or, we can do what we had plotted all this time. I feel like there is no point in waiting and waiting for something to happen.” 

“But I think we should wait. Developing the app and all of that is good news. But, what if, some glitches occur. When we assigned Beta to do the work, and as a android, she’ll be able to do the mission with no problems! Patience is key, sir, so I feel like we should hold on to the idea of the app.” 

“Hmm, since you are my most trusted adviser and my right-hand man, I trust you, Maxwell.” 

“Thank you so much for listening to me sir, this will surely help our mission indeed!” 

Oh, poor DallWell, this will help me very much, indeed...

“Hey, Lan 2.0?” 

“Yes, master.” 

“Your father is on to you. He has developed this app, to track you down. To hunt you. He has also built some android, named Beta2021. I’ll tell you the location and all of that, and when I get the chance, I will make sure that you also become like a fake human, like her. We will discuss all of this a bit later, but for now, make sure to amp your guards up. I’ve tried to distract him for some time, and bought you a chance to capture her and DallWall, and escape, but you need to do as I say, ok?” 

“Oh no, master. Are they on to me?” 

“Yes, but you can first trick that Beta girl and make her be your friend. After that, I’ll tell you this all later, but you have to make her come to our dome, and I will deal with her later. That way, DallWall and poor Beta won’t know what is going to hit them.” 

“Oh, I see, I see, master. I will be expecting you here soon.” 

“Me too, Lan, me too.” 

No one is going to know what will hit them...

And just like that, Maxwell disconnected the call and went back to DallWall to discuss more things with him. About this app the two had worked on for a long time, about how to hold off on it, and other more official and formal matters.
