Title:Β Esmeralda's love towards her grandmother

Author: Haripriya

Authors Note: Hello everyone!! I hope you all are having a safe and happy Sunday! This story is about a girl named Esmeralda who took twenty-four years to finally go to the garden she had first seen when she was a little child. I hope you enjoy it!

It had been twenty-four years since she’d last seen it, but the place looked exactly the same. There was no difference in the beauty of it. An array full of lovely flowers, with the utmost fragrance. She could easily remember the vanilla aroma coming from the flowers. Finally, she reached where she had always wanted to be in her life, her grandma's garden.Β

You may be asking why it took her such a long time to visit this garden, and why it is so special to her? You also may be asking where she was for the last twenty-four years? Well... then this is a story that you must hear.Β

Little Esmeralda was only five when her lovely, kind-hearted mother passed away. Her father had passed away when she was only a toddler. Since that day, her gentle grandmother had been taking care of her. She was a noble lady. Was very kind and fond of her granddaughter. Other than sewing or knitting, her grandmother had another hobby, and that was planting flowers. At first, five-year-old Esmeralda didn't consider planting much of a hobby. But soon, when she got to know her grandmother's secret, she started to love their garden. Every day Esmeralda and her grandmother would go and plant a new flower. They loved their little plant-babies so much that they named each of their flowers. They would care for each of the flowers and tend them very carefully.Β

As Esmeralda became old enough to go to school, you would think that she wouldn't have time to care for plants as much. But she would quickly finish her homework and go straight to the garden. She also loved to paint and draw. When she needed inspiration, she would go to the garden and sketch the flowers. Sometimes it would be daffodils, other times she would draw sunflowers. Using her watercolors, she would paint them. Whatever Esmeralda did, she did it wholeheartedly and with full of passion, interest, and love.Β

Whenever it would rain, or any bad weather occurred, she would stay inside and knit with her grandmother. They both spent their time sewing, stitching, and making their favorite clothing: scarves. Her grandmother also used to bake very well. Esmeralda would love it when she baked chocolate lava cakes topped with their homemade raspberry drizzle. Or her grandma's freshly baked chocolate fudge cookies coated with a layer of vanilla. As you can tell, (hopefully) Esmeralda and her grandmother were very close and loved each other dearly. Though at times she would miss her mother's company or her father's playful mood, her grandmother would always cheer her up by knitting her a flower scarf (she really loved those types of scarves her grandmother knitted for her).

One dreadful thunderous day, her grandma wasn't feeling so well. Poor Esmeralda (who was only twelve at that time) didn't know what to do. The nearest hospital was more than twenty miles away, and their closest neighbors were many streets across. She tried to make her grandmother's favorite tea, but she was in a state where she was too weak to drink it. Esmeralda panicked and thought of an idea. She rushed to her garden and picked out a fully grown rose for her grandma. When she hurried back though, she was too late.Β

Esmeralda dropped the rose and sobbed with rage, frustration, and anger towards herself. If only she had run faster, maybe she could have saved the life of her grandmother. She cried with sadness, desperation, and was scared. Her grandmother had cared for her beyond just describing it in words. For more than seven years she had spent her life with her, and now her gone...

Esmeralda starved herself for three days. She didn't drink water and didn't budge from her spot. She just sat there and wept all day and all night long. The only person who was important to her life was gone, and she thought it was all because of her. She wailed in regret and was mad at herself. Thinking that it was her cause her grandmother couldn't make it. Suddenly, the cold breeze carried away the rose's petals. She stopped crying and walked up to the rose. She knew that crying her heart out wasn't going to make her grandma come to life. Alas, this cruel dark world isn't magical. Everything was as it is. It was only up to her to change her future.Β

Wiping her tears, she headed outside, trying to find a job for herself. It was hard for Esmeralda to find a job that she could do. She was only a mere twelve-year-old girl. But that thought didn't stop her. With full determination and perseverance, she tried all day and night. She knew that someone would adopt her. Esmeralda knew how to do basic chores and tasks, like cooking, cleaning, and even taking care of the yard. Hopefully, there would be someone to look after her. She didn't want to be left alone all hungry and thirsty anymore. Though her heart was filled with guilt and misery, her brain was telling her to move on.

If you are asking if someone did adopt her, then yes. Luckily someone did soon, and she was a great help to them. But after twenty-four years later, she finally had the money to get a job of her own. Not being a housemaid, but a proper job. But before that, she dearly wanted to see her grandmother's garden. When she came into the house, she saw a different owner as expected, and he led her to the garden. Apparently, he was a retired soldier, and he loved planting too, so he took good care of her garden. Esmeralda was more than happy to see it. It had looked exactly like how it was when she was twelve. She remembered all the sweet moments she and her grandmother had, and that was all that mattered.

This was a very good story, but I would try and add some actual scenes to demonstrate her pain rather than telling us what she did when her grandmother died. I really liked it, and you're a great author. Can you check out my stories Helpless, Forest of Memories, and Desperation?
