“ Marian, Marian Joseph, baby , can you hear me??” A voice cried out with joy. “ She’s finally opened her eyes, let me get the doctor”. “ She is responding very well to the medication, we need to give her some more time. Don’t pressure her , let her get enough rest”.

Who would have known that a simple date with the love of her life would almost cost her her life. Marian Joseph was madly in love with Daniel Erick. The two had planned a vacation at the beginning of the year where Daniel secretly planned to propose marriage to Marian. Daniel blamed himself for the pain Marian had to go through. “She doesn’t even know yet that we have lost our unborn babies, how do I tell her?” Daniel grieved. Marian and Daniel booked the late night flight because they wanted to spend the very first day of the year on vacation in Santorini.

The two had been dating for two years and the two were expecting their very first twin girls, Daniel had planned to propose to Marian while on vacation.

This predicament had befallen the two love birds who only wanted to enjoy themselves and celebrate their love. Marian lost her pregnancy and almost lost her womb due to the complications and Daniel was overwhelmed with guilt. Why do bad things happen to good people? The real question should be were they good people in the first place or were they just a couple that was facing their karma?

A few years ago Daniel dated a lovely lady named Matilda. Matilda was madly in love with Daniel that when he needed a kidney she didn’t hesitate to give him her kidney. At the time Daniel wasn’t the rich millionaire that he was now. He worked at an international organization as an ordinary secretary. Matilda was a managing director at her father’s company and lived quite a comfortable life.

Time went on and as expected Matilda found out that she was expecting Daniel’s baby. Matilda was completely excited but Daniel didn’t seem as excited as Matilda was.

“My love I haven’t achieved all I need to in order to have a family please try to understand” Daniel said as he held both of her hands. “ I love you without a doubt but I want to accomplish so many things before we can settle down.” “ Daniel please, this is crazy, I have a job you have a job, it’s not like we are homeless teenagers who have strict parents. We are adults!!! We can take care of the child and also accomplish everything we have wanted together. I’m not getting rid of this pregnancy if that’s what you’re trying to imply.”

After much persuasion Matilda agreed to get to see a doctor in order to find out if it was possible to terminate the pregnancy.

“Well, Miss Andrews , an abortion is possible but I’d like to find out why you want to get rid of this child. Does your father know? Your father is such a prominent man and I feel he might be hurt to find out you’re trying to get rid of this pregnancy.”

” Ehh Doctor thank you for the advice ,” interrupted Daniel, “ we are not ready to have this baby that is why we have decided that we are not going to keep it.”

Matilda’s heart sank to her stomach. She was deeply hurt. She didn’t understand why Daniel was so pushy about getting rid of the pregnancy. This was definitely a side she had never seen before.

Days went by, Daniel finally took Matilda to the hospital for the abortion and it was successful. Matilda’s feelings began to change slowly. She started to feel resentful towards Daniel and they drifted apart.

“ My love, tell me what the problem is , you haven’t been talking much. You rarely go out as much as you used to. Talk to me”.

“What do you expect Daniel? I really wanted to have that baby. I don’t feel like I can trust you anymore. Too much has changed” Matilda complained.

“ I need space.” “ So you are basically upset with me because I wasn’t ready to have the baby? Really?”

Daniel walked out and decided to go on a stroll in the park to ease his mind. Their relationship had definitely changed. He also had started to feel some type of comfort in the presence of his neighbor Kate. They met during his morning jog and he had began to grow fond of her. He called her and they both went on the walk. One thing led to another and they both woke up naked in Daniel’s bed.

“Daniel!! Open the door , I’ve been calling you all morning.” Matilda yelled from downstairs. He quickly made Kate leave through the back door, at least he was safe or so he thought.

“ Baby, I want us to go for therapy because frankly speaking I’m not okay. I feel very upset about the abortion and I would like to get help. What do you think baby?”

“ Yes we should definitely go for therapy.” The two started their therapy sessions and Daniel completely forgot about Kate until one day he received a photo of Kate’s pregnancy results.

Few minutes later, Matilda came in looking upset.

“ So this is the reason why you don’t want my baby? Because you were already expecting one from someone else?” You could hear the pain the Matilda’s voice. Her heart was broken. “ I loved you Daniel! But all you ever wanted to do was to hurt me, why???”

“ Baby I can explain, it was just one night. I wasn’t thinking strai..”

“ Oh shut up Daniel! Save me the ridiculous explanation. We’re done. It’s over” Matilda left Daniel’s house in tears.

Matilda on the other hand made it very clear that she wasn’t going to get rid of the baby. Daniel spent weeks trying to get back with Matilda but to no avail. He soon devised a plan to completely get rid of the source of all his problems, Kate’s pregnancy. He invited her over for dinner to discuss the future of their babu and secretly crushed some abortion pills in her food. She spent a few days in pain and went to the hospital where she miscarried the baby. Finally his predicament was over and he would go fight for his love Matilda. He drive hours to see Matilda since she had moved out of her previous apartment to get away from Daniel. When he entered her house he couldn’t believe what he saw, Matilda was lying in a pool of blood. He quickly rushed her to the hospital it it was too late. He went back to her apartment to check for anything suspicious and found her suicide note. I loved and it cost me. I will always love you Daniel, always even in death.

Daniel wondered if this was a curse from the past. He prayed to God for answer but it seems everything was in plain sight. Surely you can’t hurt two women and think you’ll live happily ever after.

“Marian is slowly improving, she is a strong girl. No one could survive falling from the tenth floor.” The doctor said.

“ Daniel I want to find out , do you think she was pushed ?” That was it!!! That is the only thing that could explain the accident. Daniel had gone to get some smoothies for both of them and when he came back he couldn’t find her , only to receive a call from the receptionist downstairs and hearing the ambulance. Now it was Daniel’s job to find out who it was.

He was slowly staggering to Marian’s hospital room when he saw a shadow in the room.

“ I see Mr lover boy has an excellent taste in women. You see your boyfrind or rather your fiancé has unfinished business with me. I had to get back at him and I knew this was the only way so I sneaked into your hotel room and pushed you!! Yes I did it!!” The voice said with so much anger.

Daniel was clever enough to record all this and quickly called the police. Unfortunately she was able to escape, he wasn’t able to even see her face before she ran off but the police tracked her down and arrested her. He was called to to the police station and he was shocked to see that it was Kate. The same Kate he hurt some years ago. “ You think I wouldn’t find out? You killed my baby , I don’t have evidence but I know for a fact that you did it, that is why I had to get my revenge!!”

Daniel was terrified, he was definitely a changed man but his past came knocking on his door without warning. He was too ashamed to even speak and orders for her release. “ But sir, she almost killed your fiancée and your babies are gone. Why would you want her released.”

“ Just release her and let her go, don’t mention this to anyone.”

Daniel quickly rushed to the hospital in order to have Marina transferred to another hospital. “There will be no need for that Mr Erick,she is actually up and I would encourage you take her home.” Daniel quickly arranged for Marian’s discharge. He was so happy because it’s been 10 months of nothing but pain and hurt. The two literally lived their lives in hospital the entire year.

“ Baby what would you like to have? Some chicken soup??” Daniel offered.

“ When were you going to tell me?”

“Excuse me?”

“ Daniel I said when were you going to tell me, I didn’t know I was about to marry a monster, I was sleeping with such a wicked man!!!”

“ Baby I can explain, I was going I was foolish I didn’t know what I was doing.”

“ Get your hands off me , I want to go and spend time with my mother. I can’t stay a second near you. I don’t want to die.”

“ Baby don’t say that, Marian please okay fine I’ll take you to your mother’s house but I need you to forgive me,”

“ Oh Daniel only God can forgive you not me!! We are done!!”

Marian Joseph definitely didn’t know what to make out of this last year. Whether to be thankful to God for saving her from marrying such a wicked man or whether to hate the entire year because she lost her babies. All in all, she moved out of Daniel’s apartment and moved to another city very far from Daniel. She definitely needed to clearly evaluate her life. What a year.

“ Mum, I just want to start all over and fall in love with a loving kind man, I hope for the best this new year”.

“ You will sweetie, God will bless you because you’re a good person”.
