The Mother’s window

Everyday Nora wakes up in the middle of night and starts looking out of window. Nora always loved to see the peaceful sky above her head and to feel the cool breeze flowing in the middle of night. She always felt satisfied and free while looking out of the window.

Today, Nora opened the window like everyday and started looking out of it. She felt so much peace and calmness around her. She took a glance at her backyard. The garden of her backyard was filled with wet grass. The water droplets were glowing like stars. 

She looked at those droplets and starts talking to them,

“Seems like you guys are also missing your loved ones, Don't you?”

She looked around and saw squirrels running and hiding behind bushes.

“Oh, I guess you guys are family. This night must be your morning. You have a lot to do today. “, she started talking to those squirrels and smiled.

“Where is the Moon today ? Is he hiding?” She started looking to the sky and mumbled.

Moon was not full but it seemed like a cloud had eaten a little bite of him. She closed her eyes and felt the touch of moonlight on her face.

“You seem a little sad today? ”, And guess what, Moon came outside from a cloud and started talking to her.

“Why do you feel so? I am fine !”, She smiled and looked up at him.

“Really? tears in your eyes feel warmer than usual”, Moon replied.

“Actually, I am feeling a little sad. Sometimes I don’t understand how to convince people you love.“ She shared her thoughts.

“Well, If you love someone, or someone loves you, you don’t have to convince them. They will just understand you”, Moon replied.

“I wish life would have been easy. Sometimes people around you never understand. ”, She answered.

“Do you see these dry leaves?”, Moon showed her dry leaves accumulated at the edge of the side path.

“Oh poor leaves, yesterday, these were so alive, how did they dry? It was a really bright day today. Morning weather was so pleasant.”, She replied.

“These leaves may not be able to hold up with the tree, however they are still flowing with the wind,'' Moon replied.

“Poor leaves, I think fall is about to start !”, She stared at the leaves and mumbled.

“Do you like fall?”, Moon asked.

“I like fall, fall colors are lovely. It feels like those colors are saying something to you, giving you the feeling of liveness, charm and motivation.”, She answered.

“Dear Nora, change is inevitable. You like fall colors right?, In your perspective they are full of life. However, from their perspectives, leaves are in the process of dying. Its matter of perspective, how you look at the things.”, Moon explained.

“You are right. Changes are inevitable. Sometimes when I look back, it seems I have come so far that I can’t even recognize myself. Your loved ones, your time, your life everything changed over the time. These changes are painful”, She started crying.

“Nora, don’t worry my child, these changes are inevitable but they will not stay with you forever. Changes are bad, but some changes are good too. Some things will never change in your life, the love, people who loved you, will be with you no matter what happens.”

“Do you know, my little princess started walking today. She tried to stand up using door support and stepped up her first foot towards me.“ She happily shares news.

“See, this is a change. Your little one is learning to walk, to be free”, Moon said.

“But I am scared. Everyday she is growing like a running clock, I don’t want her to grow. If she grows, she will be on her path of independence. Now I am able to understand her even though she is speechless, but after some time, she will not be able to understand me just like others..”, She shared her thoughts.

“Will you stop loving her?”, Moon asked.

“No, I can’t stop loving her irrespective of how she is, whatever she will be”, She replied as soon as the moon stopped.

“Then what are you worried about? Love is not a given take. Love is just like water. It always will flow and you can not stop water from flowing. Even though she will change, your love, blessings will always be with her. She may not be able to understand you, but she will love you irrespective of what you are, what you will be ”, Moon explained.

“Can you see her future.? You have powers, don't you?”, She asked with curiosity.

“Well, I have. I can see her bright future in your eyes. Nora, dear, this is not what you should think of. Instead, life is priceless. Think of it in the present. Your present will not be there tomorrow, so live it, feel it. “, Moon continues,

“Ok, let's play a game, close your eyes, what do you see?”, He asked.

Nora closed her eyes and started to imagine. She started smiling and replied.,

“I am kissing my child on her lips.” 

A small tear came from her closed eyes and water slipped to her cheeks.

“Do you feel it?”, Moon asked.

“Yes, I do feel touch of her little cheeks, little lips, full of watery mouth and her tight hug”, she replied.

“Don’t you think this is life?”, Moon asked again.

She started crying and said eagerly, “I want to be with her always!”.

“Nora, my child, you will be with her always. You are a mother, even god does not have the power that you have. Mother has a great power of love. All hatred in the universe will be vanished with a drop of tears when mother cries. So my child, your tears are priceless, do not waste it in the past. Celebrate it in the present.”, Moon replied.

“I could not stop myself thinking about it. It was just a couple of seconds and everything went to nothing. Didn't god think of it?”, She asked loudly.

“God is very kind. He surely had thought about you and that is why you are here”, Moon explained.

“ I don’t think god is there, I don’t think god is kind”, She spoke with aggression.

“Nora, I am not a god, but god must have thought about you. God is very kind and you are with your child and always be. Your blessings will protect her”, He stops the conversation and tries to distract her to another conversation.

“How is she?, your princess?”, Moon starts a new conversation which again puts a smile on her face.

“My little princess, Mila. She is very beautiful. Brown eyes, little curly hair with cute little dimples on her cheeks. She has funny eyes. Her eyebrows are very hairy, just like a little monkey”, she laughed and continued to speak about her. 

“Do you know, her cheeks are so milky, just like a sponge. And her little fingers are like tiny little bread sticks .She is amazing. When I touched her last time, she hugged me with her hands and did not let me go. The moment was so unforgettable that I still feel her warmth. I was really tired that day, but when I looked at her, I forgot everything. I kissed her lips, cheeks and forehead with passion, held her and hugged her tightly.”

”Then suddenly, the doorbell rang and I ran towards the door. There was an emergency at the neighbor and their whole house was burning. I handed Mila to her nanny and ran to help them. Suddenly the gas blasts and I was one of them dying on the floor. The last moment I saw was my house and Mila watching me at the windows. This window is priceless for me where I felt her for the last time. This is the mother’s window, Nora’s window, the hope of my lifeless life where I can meet my child.”, She started crying like a volcano eruption and her tears were endless. Her heart was pounding and beating full of pain.

Moon was speechless but was there with her like always. After some time, she looked up and wiped her tears.

“Are you feeling ok”?, Moon asked.

She settle herself and replied, 

“I am fine like always. Lifeless and dead. I won’t ever forgive god. I never will. God has given me such a deep pain that I am never able to rest my soul.”.

“Have faith. God has given you such a great power that you will be with her always. When you feel you have accomplished your purpose to be here, you will be free, your soul will be rested. God is there to help you, to take care of your child.”, Moon explained.

She took a deep breath and wiped her face. She closed her eyes and made her convince herself in mind. She looked around to dried leaves and said to moon,

“You are right. May god bless my child with a long life that never will end. I can sacrifice countless lives given to me for her like these dry leaves”, She replied with a hope in her voice.

Moon and Nora both were silent and wind started flowing which made her realize time and she looked at the clock hanging at the right side of the wall.

“Oh it's 2 AM, midnight. It's time to meet my little princess. I can meet her in dreams”, Nora said.

“Ok my child, today you have started talking about hope, about blessings. From many nights, we just talked to each other and you were always asking God for questions of your existence without hopes but today I saw the light of hope inside you. God bless you my child. Good night, sweet dreams. “, Moon shared his thoughts and started to vanish.

“Bye bye..”, She waved at the moon and kept looking at him for a few seconds.

She went near Mila’s bedroom and looked at her. Mila was sleeping in bed with her bunny. 

Nora started disappearing and vanished after some time. Suddenly, moonlight glows near Mila’s bedroom and the wind blows once again. Cool breeze started flowing from the windows. Trees shattered and squirrels were turning back to their home.

Here at the bed, little Mila was smiling in her sleep because she must have met her mother, Nora in her dreams!.
