*Afgalad is a death threat*
Everything was ready. The food, the lights, the pets, the gifts, the elemental show, the movie, and the sculpture. It was afternoin; again, and Fawn was napping. The people who sent us here, they were well-informed. They knew everything.
Today was Fawn's birthday. She would finally be turning 17. Finally. So, me being the best friend I am, arranged her surprise party! We had all stopped birthday party's since we were 13, so she wouldn't be expecting anything anyway.
It's okay, you can tell me, I'm a genius.
I heard her door unlock- "DOOR UNLOCKED! I REPEAT, DOOR UNLOCKED!" I mentally shouted to the group.
"NO NOOO DON'T SCREAM SURPRISE!! IT'S ME I WENT TO THE BATHROOOM!" Luke wailed.
"I even sucked in my breath!"
Talk about awkward moments.
"OHMIGOD NOT A PRANK FRONT DOOR UNLOCKED!!" I mentally screamed.
"GO GO GO!!" Saylis squealed.
It was Fawn. She walked down the staircase, rubbing her eyes, and looking around.
"Is anyone here? Ugh, did y'all go out to get sticks or something?" Fawn thought.
"Whatever." She walked downstairs and flopped on the couch.
"WAIT!- First Happy birthday- or surprise?" Kuro asked.
"Seriously? Happy birthday!" Celeste sighed.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY FAWN!!" We screamed.
"Afghalad! OH- IT'S Y'ALL, THANK YOU!" She- I don't know what adjective i should put here to describe that reaction.
"Aw, y'all that's so sweet!!" She gushed looking at me and Flint.
Then there was a group hug. In which, Amare, very coincidentally ended up being quite close to Lis.
"Aw, you wait, we've got more things planned." Lis smiled at Fawn.
"You." Fawn looked at me, grinning.
"Me." I grinned.
"You did this didn't you?" She smiled.
"Uh- no- the party monster we made up in 3rd grade did it." I smiled, those memories resurfacing.
"THE PARTY MONSTER?!" Finn and Saylis said in unison.
We all chuckled.
"It's getting late! Okay, I made cake! Flint said your favourite flavour is strawberry, right?" Danny confirmed.
"Yup!" Fawn said, enthusiastically.
"Hey- uh, I got you something," Tania whispered, steering Fawn away.
"Oh! Aw. Darn, Tania! Where did you find an Eagle? Aren't they from the human realms?!" Fawn gushed.
"Hehe, I uh- have a friend, at- someplace, I'm sorry, I'm not allowed details," Tania smiled.
"Uh- that's okay, I just- thanks." Fawn said hugging her.
"Hey, um- Fawn? I know we lost touch after the play, but uh- i made you something." Amare said.
"Here you go." He said.
"Oh- thank you, Amare!" Fawn said, again, hugging him.
How is she so nice?
"Hey! There's a dance and a elemental show and more, can I get you something?" Aerin asked.
"Aww, no thank you." Fawn said.
"Hey- I uh got you… a Griffin." Aerin shrugged.
"Oh! Thank you!! I love animals!"
"Here's your gift...even though I'm don't know you." Kuro came.
"Oh. Uh- of course, um thank you…?" Fawn tried.
"Yeah, cool," Kuro walked off.
I saw Flint talking to Clarice.
Weird. Should I go talk? Or would I seem clingy? Lis would know. SAYLIS? Yesss
"Lis! Emergency Flint has been talking to Clarice for a while and I don't know what to do!" I whispered.
"Clarice? Nope. Clarice is just shooting her shot. She likes Amare. Though you can take him aside and talk, and then look back- that always spices up le drama." She grins.
"Ughh okay." I said.
I decided to go to the Library, practice, for the elemental show.
"With pitch, bright and hollow vows
The tar and black no one allows
The bland and white does envelope
the cadence of a weakened trope
A great distrust
A sunken dust
Reveals the sight below
And from the mist
A gold mine missed
Not neutral gray or snow.
The secrets all will show without
The people that no longer tout
A sallow, cold, unknowing day
When all clarity stayed away
The friends nine
Of a great long line
Of parents fighting for tomorrow
And rip the guise
Of simple tricks and sorrow
The letter revealed
the pathway shown
The truth will come
The nation grown…?" I mumbled.
It was written..on the wall. With paint. Black paint. I stared.
Oh wait- I can't just sit down and admire the handwriting! I gotta tell Flint.
I rush off to find Flint. Ugh, Clarice.
"Hello, Clarice! I would like to borrow Flint for a moment,-"
"But we were talkin-"
"Thank you!" I scream.
"Uh- yes?" Flint asks.
"Uh- why were you talking with Clarice?" I ask, sassily.
I mentally facepalm myself. That wasn't what I wanted to tell him.
"Uh- why? Is there a problem?" He asked, smirking.
"Uh- um- kind of?" You see, my leg is hurting again, and I wanted to go practice for the show, but I can't walk up the stairs soo-" I tried.
"Sure." He grins.
He lifts me up again, quite carefully, I must say, as if I'm a baby rabbit or something.
"Your hair smells nice," He says.
I'm pretty sure my blush went nuclear.
"Thanks. You- uh- look handsome- uh- too. Well- uh- you always do."
"Aw, thank you." He blushed.
He carried me upstairs as Saylis mentally-yelled at me.
YESSSSS I AM SUCH A GREAT WINGWOMAN OHMIGOD I NEED A STANDING OVATION I AM GREAT, AND, GIRLLLLL MY SISSSS YOU LOOK SO CUTEEEEEE (me and Finn followed you guys around) ehehehe
"Why are you grinning so much, haha. Though your smile is beautiful," Flint said, his brown eyes sparkling.
"Aw. Thanks. Lis's mentally screaming that we look good together and that she is gonna get us together at any cost, and that she deserves a standing ovation for this," I gesture at us.
"Haha, that's hilarious, so is Fawn." He says blushing. Guys look like puppy's when they blush.
"Aw that's so sweet!" I exclaimed.
"Luke!" Flint yelled, and in surprise, dropped me. And didn't give me a hand, to get up.
"Oh gosh, hi- ow- oh-" I...said.
"Luke! What-? Did you do this?" He questioned as I got up, heartbroken.
"Uh- no. I am standing here, my mouth agape, looking at this disastrous treachery someone caused. This was not here yesterday. And, I certainly. Did. Not. Do. This!" Luke exclaimed, deeply annoyed.
He read the words out aloud. It sounded like some sort of prophecy.
I ran up to my room. I didn't want to be more humiliated. Nor did I want to party. I did not want to be here. How could he just drop me? And completely ignore me? Tears rolled down my cheeks. My eye watering. How could I ever think Flint would like me? Flint! His whole life revolves around his sister. Like- he's put her on a leash!
I dried my tears. I walked up to the mirror in the bathroom, and fixed my hair. But, being the idiot, stupid, caring person I was- I opened the door, to go out and pretend everything was okay to talk to the birthday girl, when I saw Saylis standing there.
"I'm sorry." Was all she said.
