I woke up to the rustling of feet under my window. I looked down to see a person, man or woman, I don't know, under my tree. He or she jumped, and vanished. I flopped back on my bed, and heard a crumpling sound, under my pillow. Intrigued, I turned it over, to my surprise there was a note.
"We have our methods, to get things done, but right now, you must arrive at Ellis Square, before the night is undone."
"Disobey us, if you may, but light, and dark, cannot stay."
That's weird. I don't remember leaving a note, and the handwriting sure isn't mine. My parents are heavy sleepers, so I could easily sneak out, plus, I haven't gone out since they shifted us to the Neutral side. I took out my makeshift ladder, hey- it's easy to sneak out when you can use your magic to make your chopsticks into a ladder. I would tell my sister, but she'd go "Oh, so irresponsible! How are you ever going to learn!" In her accented high-class, snobby voice.
Since I was bored I decided to go. I used my magic and opened the window. I was wearing my sweatpants and a hoodie with a moon and stars so it wasn't that bad. I climbed down and started walking to Ellis Square. It was a two-minute walk, so it wasn't far. My head was in a messy bun, I decided to take my hair down as I felt the cold wind tickle the back of my neck.
It was quite useless, seeing my hair was in light curls and it was only till my shoulder. I played with the blue streaks in my hair, as I arrived. To my surprise I saw two teenagers standing. I recognized them from class. They were Flint and Fawn, I guess, they were always together, Flint never leaving her side. I think Fawn was a year younger. I'd always tried to make friends with her but Flint wouldn't allow anyone to come close to her.
"Midnight introvert meet? What's up Fawn?" I said cheerfully.
"Who are you?" Flint said, intimidatingly.
"Hey- hey- chill. I'm Fawn's old friend, when we were kids? You never let her have any friends, so you made up a lie how friends betray? Whatever, though. I'm Kenna. I forgot your name though." I say.
"Flint. It's okay. Apologize to her, Flint." Fawn said, turning to me, she started; "I'm so sorry, Kennie. I..guess I forgot what having friends felt like. "She again said, glaring at Flint.
"Ugh, Sorry Ken. After Mom… I didn't know what to do." He said sheepishly.
"It's okay, I know," I said, looking at him.
"Ooh nice necklace!" I said turning to Fawn. She clutched the necklace, as if it held her life. Flint covered her.
"W-what happened? Did I offend you?" I asked, scared.
"N-no. It's okay, Flint. We know her. I-i never told you this but this necklace, its leaves, they control my life. I was a weak baby, so my aunt used her rooter and bodier magic to help me. There are three. I'll die if they are pulled out of my neck." She said, playing with her green streaks in her hair.
"What? Who are you all?" Six voices said in unison.
"Um.. what?" I said.
Then, I noticed six figures walking towards us from the six paths of Ellis Square.
"Saylis? Finn? Is that you?" I said, hoping to get a "Yup!" From my best friends.
"Yup! Kennie?" Two voices asked.
"Yeah it's me." I said.
Suddenly, there was a crowd. The only people I could recognise were Saylis, Finn, Tania, Celeste, and Amare.
"Midnight Introvert meet? What's wrong?" Said Finn.
"Joke already made, Finn." I said as he sighed.
"Who are y'all?" Someone said. She had brown eyes, and was wearing a coat or something, her hair, flying in the wind.
"Clearly, we don't know each other, soo let's do introductions..?" Tania said, glancing at the girl.
"Sure." Said Fawn.
"Umm… I'm Kenna, Kenna Maywood." I said, clearing my throat.
"Flint. My sist-"
"Flint. I can introduce myself. Fawn."
"So… why are we all here again?" Clarice asked.
"I don't know. I woke up to rustling, and I found a note under my pillow." Said Tania.
"So did I." Saylis said.
Murmurs of agreement rose.
"Did you all get your note?" Amare asked.
"No" murmurs rose.
Flint sighed and said "I did."
"Talk about responsible brothers." Said Clarice.
Flint turned around and glared at Clarice. She was pushed away by some force and a fire ring surrounded her. Her eyes widened and she stood, stuck.
"Hey! Flint! Stop!" Said Fawn glaring at her brother.
"She's calling shadows." Whispered Saylis.
"She's calling the shadows. Oh no." She murmured.
"BRACE YOURSELVES!" I heard something scream in my brain as I winced.
I opened my eyes to a Clarice in the air and a "Shadow Fox", I believe roaring at us, it's eyes red. It roared and Fawn screamed.
Then I saw a white flash. I was floating. Flying. Then I heard a piercing wail.
I opened my eyes for the second time to see a floating Saylis, her eyes black, her hair flowing in the cold wind. She muttered something.
Now, I was back and we were all lying on the ground where we sat, and slowly stood.
"She used shadow dew." Was all Saylis said. She shuddered, and her skin went pale.
"Don't. Mess. With me." Clarice said.
"Look who's talking." Flint said irritated.
"Hey, Say, you okay?" Finn asked as Saylis sat down.
"I-i don't think so." She said before she passed out.
Saylis. Passed. Out. Oh. My. Lord. I sprang into action.
"Assuming we are all powerals, is anyone, anyone an empath or- or a rooter?" I said, my voice sounding desperate.
"I've hidden it too long, I am an Empath." Finn said, determined.
"You?" I murmured.
"Yup." He said.
"I'm a rooter. So is Fawn." Tania said.
"Please. Help her. " I said.
"It's just shadow poisoning, she'll be fine." Said Clarice shrugging and looking away.
"Um, HELLO? You first aggravate a guy who controls fire, Whaddya think is gonna happen? Then he surrounds you with a fire circle, and you call some freaky fox with CHAINS?? And now, when one of our best friends tries to stop you, she passes out because of excess shadow intake, you just call it SHADOW POISONING? WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?" Finn exploded.
"Yeaah…. What he said." I say as Clarice apologises.
"Hey. Sorry, okay. I didn't mean it to happen." She said.
"We have to let her rest." Fawn stated.
"She's right." Tania agreed.
Flint gasped and opened the crumpled note. He turned it over, and said "The note has mentioned a place. It's not far. We could go, if you all are fine." He said.
"Anything for Saylis." Me and Finn said in unison.
"She's my friend too." Tania whispered.
"Mine too." Celeste said.
"We should go." Amare stated.
Clarice gave me an apologetic look, and we walked to the address.
After a while, we reached.
It was... rather small.
