Note: YAY! NEW COLLAB!! Sia and Saph here, the amazing KWEEN duo, presenting to you a story so twisted yet so beautiful. Sia wrote Nyx, and Saph wrote Kyran and we both obsessed over Nyran (or is it gonna be Kyx? Nah that sounds weird) Now, what are you waiting for? Go dive into the mystical world below hehehe…. XD
Sia here, its been a long time since I write, so this is rusty, please take this with a grain of salt...
I had to find the one.
The only one.
I had to take the ring. It is crucial to my mission.
Would anyone in the park suspect that these were the thoughts rolling through Kyran’s head, as he calmly walked his big beautiful German Shepherd, which was currently chasing after butterflies like a friendly giant.
I looked down at my prized possession.
Containing the most powerful metal, unknown to humans… Aspil. A piece of rare-earth obsidian, it was the source of his power.
The source of his fire.
Who would’ve thought a tall guy with mussed choco brown hair, stunning features, and peculiar eyes could own such a powerful object?
No one, that’s who.
The sleek glossy screen of the watch presented his reflection, his eyes standing out more than any of his features.
One eye was icy blue, with gold flecks decorating his iris like glitter and the other was caramel brown.
People’s gaze would immediately be averted to his eyes, wherever he went. Just last week he was at Starbucks and the barista looked incredibly interested at his face. So interested that she just stood there staring at him, and, Kyran noticed, strangely winked at him.
Suddenly, his watch started glowing. A red hue surrounded the screen*, and it started vibrating. It seemed as if no one could see what he was seeing, as the red was quite bright and no one seemed to glance over or - like they usually do - whip out their phones. A bright red arrow was projected over the watch, like it was floating. It was pointing in the direction of the sidewalk.
Mildly confused, Kyran followed the arrow, his loyal dog disappointed that they couldn’t chase after the butterflies anymore.
After escaping from those treacherous people a couple thoughts started looming around in Nyx's head.
Where am I?
Where am I going?
Why is my ring vibrating?
Wait, what?!! No. It can't be… him? No. I-i thought they were finished.
She was afraid. Panicked. She never assumed this.
These were the thoughts whooshing around the brunette's head as she hurriedly walked. Her eyes were a mystery.
One was cerulean blue, and the other was chocolate brown, both sprinkled with silver flecks stood out more than any other features. Her wavy brown hair bobbed up and down with each hurried step.
Her ring vibrated faster than ever, and led her to… a doggie park??
She acted casual and started walking. She looked down at her ring and kept walking, but she didn't notice the handsome gentleman who did the same, but with his watch, stumbled upon her.
He had the same eyes. One ice blue, the other caramel brown. Gold flecks danced around his eyes. He tore his hand through his choco brown hair and flashed a movie star-worthy smile.
Her heart fluttered and bounced up and down. She returned the gesture with a cute grin.
"Hey, sorry about that, I'm K-Kyran." He looked nervous. He stared into her eyes. His sweet eyes poured happiness into her soul. His eyes shifted to her hair and she could feel something.
Her ring vibrated faster than ever.
"Um, it's okay, I'm Nyx."
It starts snowing lightly, Kyran, bends ahead and raises his hands towards the ring. At the same time, Nyx had a strange urge to touch his watch, but then both of them back away and hide the Aspil-filled objects.
Both of them blurt out.
He flashes another sheepish grin and Nyx smiles back. Kyran's dog starts barking loudly as one of the butterflies gets away. Nyx wracked her brain to remember to remember the human word for dog, instead, she bends down.
"Aww so cute!!"
The dog appreciates the gesture and rewards Nyx with licking her hand. Kyran grins in approval.
"So, um, you new here?" Kyran questions as they start walking.
"Kinda, ran away"
I wasn't supposed to tell him that?!
Oh no. Wait.
Do i-i like him? Woah….. nope. Not going down that road.
Gah, change the topic!!!
"SO, what's up? Are you listening to music?" Nyx questioned.
"Oh, um, nothing. Yeah. Well, it was. Before I fell for y-"
"SO, what's up? Are you listening to music?"
"Oh, um, nothing. Yeah. Well, it was. Before I fell for y-"
WAS I JUST GONNA TELL HER I-
“I- I mean before I fell on you. Nah that sounds weird I meant b-before I stumbled upon you. Nope still weird I mean-”
Nyx laughed, a beautiful sound bringing content to his mind.
“That’s okay, I know what you mean.”, she smiled up at him.
No. NO. NO NO NO! This can’t be happening. I ABSOLUTELY MUST NOT FALL FOR THE GIRL I’M TRYING TO STEAL FROM.
Deep breaths Kyran. Remember, you’re enemies. You hate her.
Apparently, his mind didn’t agree with that. His mind was unable to tear his eyes away from hers.
“S-so. What’s up with your ring?”
Her eyes widened.
“You can see it glowing?! I thought I was the only one who could!”
“Well, maybe it has to do with the fact that we both have abilities no normal human has?”
“Yeah, probably...WAIT WHAT?”
Kyran took a deep breath.
“You’re the one. I know it. You have the ring.”
“What do you mean “I have the ring”? This was given to me by my mother before she passed away. Which meant I was stuck with an imbecile of a father.”
They both cringed.
Should I tell her to calm down?
“Sorry, I should probably calm down. I got a little carried away.”
“Nah it’s okay. I know how you feel, except in my case, it’s my brother.”
“Can we go back to talking about “non-human” abilities?”
An awkward silence settled in between them. Nyx motioned with her hand for him to continue.
“Well, we’re supposed to be enemies. See that ring you have? It controls your ability to take power over water. My watch controls my fire powers.”
Her eyes widened so much, Kyran worried they might fall out. Nyx’s beautiful mouth made a shape of disbelief.
“I- SO THAT’S WHY I ACCIDENTALLY MADE A WATERFALL FROM THE TOILET!”
Kyran couldn’t help it. He broke into laughter, loving how red Nyx’s face was turning.
“So, I think there may be something wrong, since there’s NO WAY I’m gonna be enemies with you.”
Nyx’s face turned redder.
How could Kyran tell her that he agreed?
And how could he tell her that neither of them can survive unless the other is dead?
I can't do this. No.
I can't like my enemy??
Ugh, keep this thought to yourself and change the damned topic!!!
"Well….. I kinda do agree with you on that statement.."
"Of course you do Ky, no one can stand me and my beauty."
Nyx joked, with the most adorable wink. Then, in a second, she became lost in Kyran's eyes.
"Y-yeah, I'm sure no one can."
aww, he looked soo cute when he's nervous!!
Wait… Woah….. I can feel something…. I think Ky triggered something… is that… an emotion??
Attraction… wait. A crush??
Nooooope. Sis, you are waaay outta his range.
"Soooo you can control fire? And I can control water?"
"Then let's try it!!"
"Our powers, dumbhead! We can practice them in your back-yard!"
"Ummm as much as fun that sounds, Nyx, we're supposed to be enemies…?"
"Though, are we?" Said Nyx as she slumped her hand over Kyran.
HEY HIS EMOTION CHANGED! iS thAt aN imMenSe aMouNt of joy?!! Do I have a chance?? Does he like me?!!
Nyx pushed those thoughts away, and continued.
"Well… my back-yard is rather big.." Said Kyran as he rubbed his chin adorably.
"Cool! Where do you live?"
"Oh, um, I kinda brainwashed a couple into thinking I was their kid aaaand I now live on 22nd Mayfield Street."
"Ooookaaaayyyy" Nyx drew out the word
"Yup…. So see ya there!"
Kyran's shadow walked away as Nyx's eyes drifted to the baby butterfly sucking nectar from the gentle flowers as they swayed in the wind.
Okayyyy…….. I think meeting with Kyran triggered a new power… should I tell him?
Isn't he supposed to be my enemy?
Could he betray me?
Would he betray me?
Gosh, this emotion sensor thingy is making things overwhelming… wait..
IS THIS A TRAP??
Nyx wanted to ponder on more theories of what could go wrong since she loved worrying. It was almost a hobby. But dare anyone to confront her about this, she'd go all protective saying that "this was called planning."
Her thoughts shifted to gentler things such as the group of puppies playing as their father tried to catch them while their exhausted mother laid in the warm evening sun.
The flowers swayed as if they spoke a gentle rhythm talking about how things would be okay. The migrating birds who were to begin their journey. Those bees speaking in their own language. The small river rippling as little kids would let their paper boats drug along the slow current. The boats would sway vigorously, almost topple over, at one point, then steadily came back to its normal pace, pretending as if nothing happened.
Being another species, she did not wish to criticise another species, but humans often did the same thing. If they found out that their crush likes their best friend, or that their best friend betrayed them, or that you failed to get into any colleges. Some people would simply pretend nothing happened, then lock themselves in the bathroom and cry it all out. Then wash their face, dry their tears, sealed back their cracked voice and pretend nothing happened all over again.
Well that went in the complete opposite direction you imagined it would go in.
The plan was to find the person, grab the ring, and bolt.
Nice and smooth.
The interaction he just had was FAR from smooth.
This left him with only one option, that made his heart ache.
He had to do it.
It was the only way.
He had to put his stupid feelings aside and focus on the bigger picture.
But how would he do it?
Would it be quick and easy, like his initial plan?
Or would it be the opposite?
He had to kill her.
Or was there another choice?
