It is the year 2100 and they keep saying that the Age of Pisces is drawing to a close and judgment is upon the human race. These witches come to town every so often and make an appoint to try and preach their cause. It doesn’t help that there are people that actually follow the other three mega factions that come here too. They all say the same thing.
“The Chosen One is the one who will decide our fates. If she remains free and among the human race, life would go on. If she chooses the light and the Archangel, then peace would be restored to this world for all times. If she chooses the dark and Lucifer, then hell will reign upon this word. If she chooses Cain, then this world will end in blood and the humans would fall to the bottom of the food chain.”
I stand back and watch like I always do. Little old five feet and three inch me and considers herself a nobody. I am a Grey Witch, I don’t serve any of the factions; I simply serve the people around me. My hair is long and dusty brown and it bares both highlights of both blonde and red. It actually changes depending on the light. My eyes are cobalt blue and slightly slanted. None of us are separate nationalities any more. We are what we are. My shirt is a blue tunic style top that I can adjust to be tight or loose. Right now it is tight. My pants are denim, even after all this time we still make and use the fabric here in Saint Clare. Because we all do work in the fields, it does protect the legs. I also wear boots that I had repaired over and over, but as a witch people pay me in different ways for my acts of kindness. Why not fix my boots for nothing and resole them. Oh and where are my manners, my name is Selena.
I am just about tired of the Glenda the good witch routine. I swear these white rabbits are annoying. With that thought I turn to walk away.
It was the next line that stopped me. “If we charge this medallion, we might be able to find the Chosen One and we can activate her memory. Then all we must do is see to it that she is kept here with us among the humans and our species will live on.”
I yell in their direction, “Stop giving people false hopes! You Bunnies make me sick! The only way we humans survive is if we work at it! A Chosen One is not going to snap their fingers and save all of you!”
The little coven of bunnies stare at me for a moment, they know what I am and how much stronger than them I am. We of the Grey have a tendency to do what they are afraid to do and that is what makes us strong.
Instead of listening, the bunnies begin their casting. I sigh and start to walk away until a burn surges across my back. My knees give out and I find myself on all fours. My angel bite hurts and as I squeeze my eyes close, a door appears in my vision. I know that I have seen that door before. I scream as the pain across my back gets worse. No don’t let it come closer.
I feel my shirt getting pulled up in the back and a hand slides over my back. “It is here Sisters; this Grey is the Chosen One!” It is the same voice from earlier that was leading the stupid benediction.
Instead of stopping, they continue their chant.
All I see is that damn door. I know what is on the other side. If I go through it, don’t they realize that the world will get far worse before it gets better? Right now, everything is status quo between all the factions, if that door opens, it will change every little thing. I find it hard to breathe as the door gets closer and tears stream down from my eyes.
“You have to stop, you don’t understand, you can’t do this.”
“Calm yourself Sister, all will be well. Your memories shall set you free and save us all.”
Stupid white bunny trash!
The door seems to glow now and seems to get closer into my reach. They keep chanting. Idiots, they will know. Who are they? I wish I understood more without opening that door in front of me.
But the door is opening itself up.
No, please no.
My scream came out in the physical world as well as in my mind and all they hear is a blood curdling NO! I vanish in the physical world before their very eyes.
The door opens and I fall forward into it.
I can’t escape it.
Energy surges and pulses into me as I fall.
I see a beautiful garden somewhere and a dirty blonde haired man that I shared it with and it falling apart. I see a queen in exotic wear and a lady priestess that had magick far more powerful than mine. I see a hundred and five lives streak past me and I land somewhere in the dark.
The lights rise around me and I see their faces. All of the faces were different. Some are light skinned and a few are dark skinned and many in between. One thing is the same throughout. They all have my eyes but they have an iridescent sheen to them.
Each one reaches out and touches me as I am on my knees in the middle of them. Remember is what they keep repeating. Each touch rushes a life time into my mind and I scream. I don’t want to remember all of it but they won’t stop. As the life time plays out, it is like my body absorbs them.
It repeats over and over as I scream and cry. “Don’t make me do this. Please don’t make me do this.” My pleas go unanswered.
Suddenly it stops…
I stand with my eyes closed.
I know everything yet again.
I know what will happen.
The human race was always one to never understand the consequences of what it is they do. They always acted on emotion rather than their minds. One should always ask themselves.
Just because I have the power to do it and it just might be awesome to do it. Should I do it?
But they never ask that, they just do it and then tell themselves that it seemed like a good idea at the time.
I extend my hands out slowly from my sides and bring them to the sky. Energy surged around me and power climbs around me. Just because some stupid little girls thought that reviving my memory and power would be a good thing, now I have to go back and the world has to suffer even more by what they do.
In an explosion of power, I reappear where I left the Village. The power still surged around me and I see the three of them looking up as if someone tapped them.
I see Michael, Mister Archangel himself. He is at a desk and suddenly he rises to his feet and looks toward the direction I am in. His golden blond hair gotten longer, but he is the same as he always is, a Self-righteous egotistical jerk.
I see Lucifer. First it was his eyes and then the rest of him. Those red eyes are unmistakable and then they go green. He smiles too. It is one of those panty melt smirks that I find seductive, but even he owns me if he wins.
I see Cain. He steps out of a crypt somewhere and his eyes scans the sky. He also turns to look at me. That red hair of his is stylish and his eyes are emerald. He is a strong individual as he is the keeper of all things dark. Last time I was with him I was punished for speaking out of turn.
The three suitors that will now war over the rights to me. I don’t want it, but I don’t have a choice. Chosen One…Bullshit, I’m a fucking trophy plain and simple. And to make matters worse, they are the only three individuals created that I cannot hurt in any way, shape, or form.
Fuck my Life.
My vision returns to what is around me finally. The little handful of bunnies stands before me and they are talking. Slowly what they say comes to my understanding. They say something about elevating me as a queen. Those three will do that now that they know I am back as they kill each other.
I raise a hand and the little white witches fly across the small field and land in the dirt.
“You probably had good intentions, but you needed to stop and ask yourself if you should do something before you do it. Things were status quo before you did this. You started the war that is coming. I am no Chosen One; I am their prize for winning. I am no hero. You should have left well enough alone.”
With that, my shape changed and a raven took my place. I wing my way away from the city I called home. I hope it keeps those people safe. They were good to me. As I glimpse back but a moment, I see a type of worm erupt from the ground. It is massive and considered an Earth demon. Lucifer probably sent it.
That life fades behind me.
