Author bio

Please visit ArthurPDutton.com for more! Writer, engineer, father, husband. Hardly ever in that order. I started writing in high school, about thirty years ago. It has been an on-and-off passion ever since. Over the last decade, becoming a full-time author became a serious, long-term goal. Along with planning for an early retirement from engineering work in order to write full-time (canā€™t come soon enough!), I started writing for publication in 2021. A love of written Science Fiction is the primary source of my dream, but I am working on Fantasy and Historical Fiction concepts as well. Right now, it is a balance between not being in any particular hurry and not wanting to wait any longer. Prior to my writing career, I was a military officer and then an engineer in the military-industrial complex. It was a good life and something I believed in. My career provided me many opportunities. While I will always benefit from that education and experience, I donā€™t plan to write about it any significant way. As most adults realize sooner or later, my greatest accomplishments are family related. My wife an I have several children and at least one grandchild (in case I donā€™t update this section regularly, I donā€™t want the latter arrivals to feel left out). Raising a brood and providing for them was a great challenge and a great experience. It will likely inform my writing far more than my work life ever could. Iā€™ve lived in Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA for most of my life and plan to stay here. I enjoy the mountains and the climate, but mostly I couldnā€™t be bothered to move anywhere else. We love to travel and Iā€™ve seen a lot of the world; South Korea, Japan, Australia, Ireland, the UK, France, Germany, several other European countries in my youth, 49 states including multiple trips to Hawaii and Alaska, and Canada. Outside of genre fiction (which I consume regularly), I enjoy the literary works of Todd Noy, playing Kerbal Space Program, boardgames, roleplaying games of the ā€˜Story Gameā€™ variety, a quirky miniatures war game called Heroscape, movie and television of all sorts, escape room games with my family (tabletop or in-person), The Sword Experience, riding motorize scooters, and motion-control and VR exercise games.
